Have a “single list of relation elements” object?
This view smust above all be able to be placed in the sidebar.
And clicking on one of the items would open a set filtered by this relation value.
For tag relations, this display could be used for other applications (management, sorting, number of objects, etc. See below).

The problem is that you cannot search your files using tags in the search box Describe the solution you’d like The ability to search and find all files associated with a specific tag or a number of tags just by typing the tags name into the search box. Tag could be given a powerful boost by providing more information by having them display how many times the tag is used. For example a tag called #book is created. I wanted to make the same exact post. I feel the current system is a bit strange.

I would have thought that Anytype would work like this:

• Object Type is the syntactical element → the structure of the data. An object can only have one type.
• Tag is the semantical element → the content/meaning of the data. An object can have any number of tags to categorise its content or purpose.

As of now, the system is a bit wonky:

• Object Type: An object type is used for two purposes at the same time, mostly the structure through defining a template and relations (syntactical), and also defining the purpose of the object (semantical). This is very murky and does not work very well in my opinion, since you cannot have multiple object types and the meaning of the data is usually almost impossible to define using a singular term.
• Tags: They are simply a bunch of strings linked together under an object’s relations. They are purely used in a semantical way.

The tag system is missing a few key properties to be effective as a first class citizen:

• Searching: we cannot use the tags to search in the Anytype space using “modkey + S”
• Viewing: We should be able to see a tag cloud, either next to the graph view where tags could be seen as a cloud and clicking a tag would display the objects that have this tag, AND/OR as a list.
• Filtering: The current system requires to create a set filtering on all object types, and then specify certain tags to run the query. This is not very intuitive.

This is meant as constructive criticism. I really love this project and the philosophy behind. Anytype and its team are amazing!

Notion community seems to be more powerful but Evernote community has simpler needs to integrate in order to switch over. I think.

So don’t hesitate to vote so that the AT team can work on it at their end-of-August meeting, put it quickly on the development schedule and get it completed quickly (and so that everyone abandons Evernote for AT just as quickly ^^).

Not having this is literally what is keeping me from moving over to Anytype. Tags are essential for my workflow and this is a must.

As a workaround, create a Query and put it as widget.
Add some Views to that Query and set in each one the filter to one of you most used Tag.
If you need another Tag, modify the filter.

I know it’s a bit cumbersome, but it works.

Tipp: First create only one View and configure it in all aspects as you want. Then duplicate that View. That spares a lot work.
In the duplicated Views you need to change only two things: its name and the Tag in the filter setting.

Just thought this morning, it would be great to have a tag/multi-select widget. I’ve tagged my second brain quite extensively and it would be great to just click the tag and see every object that has that tag. Setting up a query and then tweaking the filter to show the desired tag feels cumbersome, as does creating a separate query for each tag. Voting

This is exactly what Collections 2.0’s experience is much more similar to. It breaksdown the barrier between needing to setup queries/collections for surfacing your properties.

For me, an object can contain a lot of content across different topics, so block-level tags would be very helpful. Ideally, search results would point to the specific tagged block, and clicking a result would jump directly to it rather than just opening the object.

Yes! Capacities does this, and seeing it in action - wow! You click the tag, then the results show the block/paragraph the tag is applied to. Very useful for book highlights/notes. Currently I have my highlights as individual objects which is good for recalling them in specific context, but it does make them feel a bit disjointed from the book object they’re present in as cards. If I could bring them back to the book object and tag the blocks, it would be so much cleaner.
