Built-in relations showing linked objects

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I want to create a grid view that contains a list of objects that link to another specific object.

Describe the solution you’d like
In the same way that “Creation date”, “Last modified”, “Last modified by”, “Last opened date” are built-in, automatically filled relations, there should be another two relations:

  • “Links from”: to list the objects that have links to the current object; and
  • “Links to”: to list the objects that the current object links to.

Describe alternatives you’ve considered

Additional context
I am using AT to enrich textbook lessons for language learning. As such, in a lesson text, for each new vocabulary, I create an object and then create mentions for each one inside the text. By the way, this would be much easier if the following request was implemented: Link to object from text selection. Currently it is a very frustrating and time-consuming task.
Now it comes where the current request would be useful: I want to create a list of all vocabulary used in this particular page of the lesson.
Of course this would also depend on Support for inline creation and display of sets

This is a cool use case and seems like useful functionality. Linked objects are callable sets.

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND

Add “Links to” and “Links from” default relations to Task type.

HOW COULD IT BE DONE

When a task is added on a page, the “Links to” and “Links from” the task object are automatically created and entered in the task relations fields.

REAL WORLD USE CASES

The “Links to” and “Links from” relations can be displayed in Set of Tasks to show task parents and children. Feature Enhancement: Indent sub tasks under parent tasks in the Set of Task views.

RECOMMENDED ALTERNATIVES

Workaround: Create and enter task links relations manually for display in Sets of Tasks.

ADDITIONAL CONTEXT

Showcase: My take on Task Management (w/Sub Tasks)

This would be great for custom backlinks too. You could create an inline set in each object and then filter the set tho only show objects that are linking to that object.

Any update on this feature request? Thanks.

The “Flow” page is your best bet for now:

Thanks. But I’m assuming this won’t help create sets of objects pointing to a particular object, right?

This request is basically a Collection (an overview of all the objects linked to that Collection), but as an extra that “Collection” can be any type of Object.

This can be accomplished by adding the option to create a Collection based on a certain Object, basically.

WHAT IS THE NEED?

First user case :

  • I have task in many place. For example, I can have a collection of objets (real objects) that I can sell, buy, study, …
On each objet, I can add my study and tasks like “Buy for summer”
Now, I want a global list of all tasks : I create a set… and I have many tasks without knowing to what they are attached. Outch!
  • Second case, easy : see link more easily! Actually you have to open your object, Clic on Graph, Click in Flow… Am I mistaken, or is this flow information and links not visible anywhere else?

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND

Easy, I hope : Add a default relation to each objets with Links (2 relations I suppose : Links from, Links to)
Type Object already meets the expected format.
At the moment, I don’t even know how this information is stored, it’s hardly visible and yet the notion of a link is there!
I find this amazing, I may have missed something, in which case, thanks for the clarification.

ADDITIONAL CONTEXT

More reason to do that?
You can mark other requests as resolved because we can filter an object by its links; or at least it can be the first building block for developments meeting other needs

Thanks @Filip for merging, I hadn’t seen that this request was similar.
