I recently discovered Anytype; it is exactly what I was looking for, a solution that combined Notion and Obsidian.
I have used both but Anytype does a great job so it is certain that I will use it as my main app.
I look forward to the MS and MP.
Adding my personal point of view - will definitely include overlap to other already mentioned points.
- How you’ll use Anytype differently (or not) once multi-spaces/multiplayer is introduced
**Currently I only use Anytype for my personal planning, sorting, thoughts etc. This will enable me to also work with other people inside of Anytype. At the moment we are using Outline. Which is fine but lacks other stuff that is already exists in Anytype (like Sets, Tagging, etc.)
**So what I am waiting for is to be able to work with others in Spaces and distribute tasks. This would simply be done via usage of the Assignee relation. A simple set per Person would be sufficient to only show the tasks for the specific person.
It would be nice if there could be a notification if new things get linked to your personal object aka. object of type Human. - Which tools you currently use for shared knowledge & project management - and how you currently use them
We currently use outline as an ordered list of documents. That’s about it. I would like to introduce assigning tasks into the workflow.
Wishes for multiplayer
- Live typing
- Notifications
- Commenting
- Calendar for tasks overview
- Rights for objects, based on User/Group
i believe this is very important.
Would there be a way to hide text on a page so that you can only show what you want?
could you make it where you needed permission to view certain text within a page?
It would be nice to have different levels of view rights. kinda like you have the ability to give different read & write access to a user account on a computer.

One of the big things for me will be a robust conflict-resolution mechanism.
When several people are collaborating on an object, and working on the exact same block offline, we will need something simple to visualize the conflicting changes and resolve them. I am afraid that without such a mechanism, collaboration will be super challenging.
I can’t help but think that making the core app more functional should take priority over multiplayer. There are so many basic features missing, even if I could use Anytype to collaborate I wouldn’t because it’s not worth trying to teach someone how to use it in it’s current state.
Here are a few examples of things that should take priority over multiplayer:
Self-pointing placeholder filters for templates
Be able to remove (uninstall) default Types & Relations
I agree with this fully. I’m just waiting for an improved product before using Anytype for most of my day-to-day. I dont see how multiplayer or multispaces would change that or encourage me to recommend the software in its current state. It’s an underwhelming prospect. Feels like opening the restaurant before the kitchen is fully operational…
while i dont know what exactly is going on in the dev process, i do know that this multiplayer addition actually adds some core functionality that paves the way for automations, plugins, and more selfhosting options. so while they are branding this change as multiplayer, there is some core functionality coming with this update that i think a lot of people will be happy with.
not sure if anyone has mentioned this, just took a glance through this thread, but some auth controls that let you control exactly what kind of access people have like discord would definately be interesting, im struggling to think of a reason why it would need to be as indepth as discord, but definately being able to segment a space, or controlling access to multiple spaces for friends, family and work while keeping those contexts visibly seperate would be great.
yes, i would say also add just a little more automation.
Hi everyone! Thanks for leaving your thoughts here, we haven’t had the time to respond to each of these individually but are reading your feedback intently. Many of your requests have already been taken into consideration, a couple of points I’d like to address quickly:
-
Access control will be defined on the space level, meaning it won’t be possible to give differentiated access on the object or block level. We are playing with some workarounds to give you greater flexibility here, but these may not be introduced with v1 multiplayer.
-
Definitely hear the point that there’s still a lot of fundamental polishing to be done to improve the core experience - this is not lost on us. We have half of our product team working on delivering core product improvements & highly-requested features. For that reason, please continue to leave your feedback on the relevant feature requests (or create new ones) so our team can do our best to address these. We appreciate the continued feedback! At the same time, we know that multispaces & multiplayer are essential for much of our community to get full use out of the app, and seeing as this is a huge project, the purpose of this research is to guide the rollout and de-risk some of our assumptions.

Cross-space object linking will become possible, but not in the first iteration of multi spaces (which is coming this week). It will be introduced when multiplayer goes live.
Seeing the preview of multiplayer in townhall and the discussions of anonymity on the forum, I contemplate a little bit about the possibility to address privacy issues in multiplayer.
In the demonstration, everyone has an identity displayed. Are these based on the ‘profile’ object? What if users want to use/have different (isolated) identities?
For example,
- Profile picture: for career identity, I would like to have a professional looking profile picture and be addressed as the relevant job title
; for my personal life, I would like to have something fun
and be addressed as a nickname. - Isolated identities: Perhaps I (viewer) don’t want my boss (viewer) to discover that somehow we have a common friend (editor/admin) who shared some special political views
Do we need to create several Anytype account or run multiple instances of Anytype? Or do we enter the space as different identities? I am not sure what’s the best way to control this in UI or spaces etc. What are your thoughts?
P.S. This is related to publishing contents as well.
Hi @C.c ! Right now it works like this, when you enter the space you provide a symmetric key to the members of this space, this key encrypts your name, profile picture and description which are based on the profile object in your personal space (you can edit them in the settings menu as linked below).
That means that only members of this space (and the other spaces which you are a member of) will have access to this info (and the respective changes thereto).
Speaking about multiple identities, right now we derive only one identity from your mnemonic, so essentially you can have only one identity per mnemonic. So you would need to create another account in Anytype (and therefore different mnemonic) if you want some isolation.
In the future we might look into multi-account model where you can have separate isolated accounts (identities) derived from one mnemonic, each of which will have its own profile, spaces etc. So you will be able to switch between them to access different spaces and these identities could not be linked together. And maybe we will have some kind of a screen showing overview of all your accounts and spaces (we are discussing this).
Hi, just wondering if anyone knows when we will be able to use Multiplayer?
I know the team is working very hard on this and I appreciate all their efforts.
