This release is a big step up in speed and resource use, especially if you have many spaces. Anytype now does far less work at launch and loads things only when you actually need them.
Performance
- Much faster startup — Spaces, chats, and members now load on demand instead of all at once when the app opens. The more spaces you have, the bigger the difference — you reach your content and see chats sooner.
- Lower RAM use — Background maintenance now runs within a memory limit, and the app keeps far less loaded in memory at once. This means fewer slowdowns and crashes, particularly on phones and lower-end machines.
- Lower CPU & battery use — The app no longer opens every chat and re-checks every space on startup, and it sends far fewer unnecessary internal updates. That’s less spinning fans, less heat, and better battery life.
- Faster, more reliable search — Full-text search is dramatically quicker on large accounts and returns more consistent results.
- Quicker opening of large objects — Objects with long edit histories open noticeably faster.
- Frees up storage when you leave a space — Leaving a space now removes its local data and reclaims disk space.
New
- Admin role for shared spaces — Space owners can now give a member the Admin role to help manage people and content. Creating invite links stays with the owner.
- Space cleanup suggestions — Anytype can point out orphaned and unused objects in a space and suggest archiving them, so it’s easier to keep things tidy. Nothing is archived without your confirmation, and your chats are never touched.
- Chat API — Added a REST API for chats, making it easier to build integrations and automations on top of Anytype.
Improved
- Snappier sync after network changes — Switching between Wi-Fi and cellular, or waking your device, now reconnects and resumes syncing much faster.
- More stable local syncing — Device-to-device syncing on the same network is more robust, and a bug that caused high battery and CPU use on iOS after a network change is fixed.
- Better copy & paste — Copying or cutting a selection that starts or ends mid-paragraph now keeps the exact text you highlighted, and pasting into an empty line no longer leaves an extra blank block.
- Bookmarks now appear in links & graph — Web bookmarks count as links, so they show up in backlinks and the graph view.
- Widget settings are remembered — Changes to a widget’s layout, item limit, and view now stick.
- Tighter security — Restricted the app’s local connections to trusted sources.
Fixed
- Files stuck on “Syncing” — Files that had finished uploading but kept showing “Syncing” now complete correctly.
- Occasional freeze when uploading files — Fixed a rare hang during file upload.
- Inflated chat unread counts — Unread badges no longer over-count after the app rebuilds its data in the background.
- Blank chat previews — Recently synced chats now show their latest message instead of appearing empty.
- Lost chat names or messages after a rebuild — Fixed a case where older chats could lose their name or some messages after a background data rebuild.
- More reliable invite links — Invite links now behave consistently, and revoked invites are cleaned up properly.
