WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND?
Thanks again team for allowing users to link objects across different spaces, via links. It would be nice if we could search objects and add to relation.
HOW COULD IT BE DONE?
- In conjunction with Advanced Filters / Queries , allow users to search by filtering space first then object.
- Implement with relation, so users can add objects from another space in a relation/property.
Things need to be considered:
- what to display when access of objects/spaces is retracted; maybe something like “deleted object”?
- how and what to display in graph
REAL WORLD USE CASES
It would be nice if we could add objects from another space to relations as well.
- For example, depending on the purpose of space usages,
- Knowledge field space which contain no private information can be reused in private space for journalling (mimicking the use of notebook in public library) e.g. With my own use case of having a space for The Bible, I can add those verses in my private journalling space in my day object with “Verse of the Day” relation. This way I won’t bombard my private space with the numerous objects of each verse, and still be able to use relations with the verses.
- Project based space can be shared to customers only, but staff can all use objects as relations across all project spaces.
RECOMMENDED ALTERNATIVES
- Just like the current way, force users to link as website in canvas.
- New relation type: Block - So users can link in block but still show in query/set/collection. This method would reduce discoverability of objects though; so this will make workflow bulky: open the other space > search for the object > copy object’s link > return to the working space > reach for the working object > add text and then link.
- Multi-space display with Tabs will ease this process.

Sorry but not sorry, I couldn’t calm down my passion and hope for richer functions for relation..
