It must be possible to enter the different relation of an object in a collection (in table view). And to do so quickly (without having to click on each field again), a bit like entering data in Excel. Or as Notion!
How Could It Be Done?
When editing a relation in a row, including Name field, press TAB to validate and move to the next cell in edit mode.
Like Excel, Notion, etc
Real World Use-Cases
Table view is useful to create object and edit its relation quilcky.
But actually, it’s not so quickly, it’s a pain!
A usercase :
I have 100 bottle to add in a “cave” collection.
Actually, I have to :
type the name
find my new object (because Anytype move it relative to the sorting applied)
clic the 1st relation with the mouse
edit with the keyboard
reuse the mouse to select the next relation
reuse the keyboard to edit
-…
I want to :
type the name
type TAB key
type the 1st relation
type TAB key
etc
Additional Context
Topic started here but the FR is no longer really about input keys
And… the new form for FR is a real pain
When editing or entering data in a Query while in the Grid view, hitting tab just confirms the data entry, like hitting enter. It should automatically move the focus to the next column though. Same behavior as spreadsheets
HOW COULD IT BE DONE?
Simply adding the functionality so that when you hit tab in this view it confirms the data entered and moves focus to the next column. If it’s the last column, move focus to the first column of the next row
REAL WORLD USE CASES
The Grid view is very similar to a spreadsheet and it’s pretty intuitive to enter data using tab to go to the next column. Especially when trying to enter data quickly
