What’s The Bug?

After replacing _italic_ or **bold** text the editor inserts a trailing whitespace, which IMO should not be there.

  • I know of no other implementation which does this
  • it is annoying, since you have to delete it for placing punctuation
  • i did not type it, so I don’t expect it – also my muscle memory does not

not critical, super annoying (at least for me), and I simply cannot get used to it.

How To Reproduce It

  1. Type “hello _world_”
  2. See "hello world " (including the whitespace) appear

This bug really fractures my concentration. As the OP noted, it takes 6 keystrokes to italicize something with a trailing non-space character.: _, [your italicized thing], _, [your trailing non-space character], ←, ⌫, →. That is a concentration-scrambler for me - It’s such a game of chess that I lose track of what it is I’m taking notes on.

This issue has been fixed by the Development Team and will be implemented in an upcoming release.
