WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND?
This relates to a minor improvement.
When I create a new object with Ctrl+N while the left sidebar is closed, it gets the default type. Quite often, I then want to change the type of the object.
However, if the “Object type” property is not in the header properties, then there is not always a quick way to do this.
HOW COULD IT BE DONE
Here is where I unsuccessfully tried to find this feature:
- In the top-right ⃛ overflow menu on an opened object → there is no “Change Type” here
- When clicking or right-clicking on the “Object type” property in right Properties panel/sidebar (Ctrl+Shift+R) → this only allows you to navigate to the object type, not change it
- As a keyboard shortcut (Change Type of the currently open object - it doesn’t exist now)
Adding this option to any of the above UI locations would make my described workflow faster and more intuitive.

I’ve described my use-case, but this covers any time you want to change an object’s type while having it opened.

This feature is not missing by any means. You can reach it currently by:
- Having the Object Type property in the properties header of your type (which is the default I think, but I often don’t find it relevant to have it always visible)
- Using the … overflow menu on the “Recently Edited” pinned widget in the left sidebar (but new users won’t have that widget by default anymore).
- Navigating to any collection that contains the current object and changing the type by right-clicking on the object entry
There might be more ways that I’m missing.
