Feature Request - Ideally, as it happens in Notion and similar, when “Page Cover” is selected, if a cover image is not defined but there’s at least 1 image in the content, that image should be used as default card image in the Gallery and Kanban views.
Current implementation - It’s possible to use non-cover images as cover but this comes with a few issues:
It’s either cover image or some other attachment relation, but not both.
Adding the attachment requires several steps (and is not easy to search for images)
If the user, also needs the image in the text, it should add it twice: 1 in the text, 1 as relation.
HOW COULD IT BE DONE?
Use the first available image as default cover image if a cover image is not defined.
REAL WORLD USE CASES
Simple case, I have a list of quick notes to display in a Gallery (with cover), some have a cover image some with some images in the content.
Thanks, I missed those 2. However, I think it’s a bit different feature. Those requests suggest to have the option to preview the content. I’m talking about something simpler, just to use the first available image as default cover for the card in the case the object doesn’t have any cover, not the whole content.
The goal is to create greater uniformity in the gallery and kanban views without always requiring a cover image, as it isn’t always functional.

Is not exactly the same. What I’m trying to say is that when you set “Page cover” it should show either the cover or the first image if the cover is not there.
It could be as default or a separate setting, something like “Page cover or first image” or an additional flag somewhere in the UI.
Side note: I was wrong about Notion, it doesn’t actually do that.
