Update: Thanks to everyone who joined! Find the link to the Town Hall recording here
Hello, dear Community!
It’s been a while since our last Town Hall. As we wrap up the year, we’d love to reconnect, share where Anytype is headed next, and bring your questions into the room.
Join our Town Hall on December 3, 17:00 CET.
We’ll be talking about Chats, sharing our plans for what’s coming next, and wrapping up with a live Q&A.
Drop the questions you want us to cover in the comments under this post. We’ll collect them ahead of time and answer as many as we can during the session.
thanks, just seen it in the stripe checkout and thought it might be a stripe thing if it applies forever. so one year only, got it.
but then you have to cancel first, loose access to the non free features (like access to spaces or files) if you use any and then you have to re apply and if you are not lucky this won’t be seemless.
That is what I do, in another software which I have to buy yearly. I always renew 1 year update license around this time, when they do for a week a 30% discount.
It is up to Anytype to do this also. I guess 50% every year is “too much”, maybe something around 25% or 30% discount around Black Friday every year. (no need to cancel, it is seamless in the app I have subscription).
Anyway… of course, this is not my call, nor do I want to influence the decision makers.
When can we expect to get the ‘Calendar view’ for Sets/Queries/Lists on Android? This would be immensely useful for those of us who use Anytype for Task Management on the go.
Thanks for all your hard work, development-wise 2025 has been a blast so far!
I’m not clear about the discount. I currently have Builder membership which runs to April 26. If I take the BF offer, do I lose the remaining few months of my existing membership?
Is AnyType aware of the problems with the search function?
Are there any plans to fix this massive problem and possibly even completely revamp or expand the search function (inline queries, etc.)?
I’m looking forward to gaining some interesting insights.
Hate to break the bubble here, these don’t sound very “first year” to me, that’s just my understanding of the english language.
Generally subscriptions businesses put out discounts for new customers and not existing or previously paid customers; some do, but most don’t. Would be a nice icing on the cake if they do, but as a subscription business I don’t see why one would prioritize this unless it’s for a user that had stopped their subscription for quite a while already (we call this the “win-back” in business), or a discount at the subscription cancelation process to retain a customer for 1 more year. Hopefully they can clear this up.
My two questions to the team:
Looking back this year, what is a moment that Anton and Zhanna (and/or others) found positively memorable while working at Anytype?
What is something that Anton and Zhanna is very excited about for the future of Anytype? May or may not necessarily be a feature on the roadmap or app specific, but it can also be a vision for Anytype.
Because I enjoyed to use Trello, my question is: When can we expect to get the ‘Kanban view’ on Android?
And another question: at my opinion the user should be able to design a default text style that becomes applied automaticly after allocating a link to a text. Would it be easy to program it?
Thanks for the great work so far. I’m glad to be allowed to help at least with Bug reports to make Anytype better and better. Stay as your are
You’re not bursting any bubbles, but you’re not answering the question either. Your surmise that the offer only applies to new subs is reasonable, but the website doesn’t say that. I’d really like a definitive answer from the team
just try to go to the checkout and apply the code. what you see there should be what you will pay in the end. It’s stripe after all and what is written there should also be in your invoice.
Oh you’re thatguy… Whew, glad I didn’t burst any bubbles. Good to know the website doesn’t say “first year” next to the pricing.
This is possible because Anytype doesn’t use emails for the Anytype accounts. One could easily game the system and even use a throwaway email if they want to make the purchase on Stripe, then input that code into the account, rinse and repeat every year. If someone does this, then they’re Anytype name will have to change every year as well because they won’t be able to wait 30 days to snatch up the same name while still catching the BFCM deal.
I for one would not do this nor endorse it, personally. If I’ve built a community of enthusiasts that support my work in public, just to then notice these early supporters are surreptitiously gaming the system in private at my expense, just gives an extremely tacky taste. Anytype built a system not to track their users, I see the trust being important for both sides.
This is all basing off their “first year” rule they listed on the page, unless they later step back and reverse it and saying it’s not actually just for the first year only. Or if their offer changes next year. Anyhow, there will be people that will game the system regardless and they’ll likely get away with it just fine, maybe Anytype hasn’t actually thought about this and is just reading our comments right now to help them come up with ideas.
is this Town hall only a one shot or is it the return of regular town hall?
Because I have some questions about future items in roadmap, it’s pehaps better to asks at the next town hall, if any.
If there is no next town hall planned: on the roadmap, “Collections + Sets = Lists (+ UX improvements)” is in the backlog. We use lists a lot, so UX improvements would be very much appreciated. Do you already have a vision for this, a list of things that will be integrated, etc.? Faster editing, faster navigation between items, modification of types, improvement of inline versions that are currently too limited, improvement of views, etc. There is so much to do.
Take photo (capturing) directly into Anytype on Android : as I understand, we can with IOS, team can with an internal version on Android… why is it not delivered for all Android user?
I see in a comment for the last version that image can have backlinks, but not always/automaticly : is it a work in progress? I don’t want to play with a alpha version of this but I can’t wait to use a truly finalized version.
Chats are funny. Lots of chats are…
Doesn’t it take up a lot of your time? It’s the kind of thing that’s increasingly being banned from some workplace so that people can concentrate on their tasks without being constantly distracted (even if it’s nice to chat with you of course!).
A quick health check, if possible? Number of active free users, number of paying users, etc.
Uploading images are already supported, unless you mean using images and files directly inside Anytype. Or do you mean capturing a photo with the camera so it gets added to Anytype as a quick capture?
I’m mostly interested in basic features that would greatly improve my workflow on Android.
• Option to select existing images and files on Android inside Anytype without constantly reuploading
• Automatic sync of images is currently broken on both mobile and desktop. Images never sync automatically unless I manually open each page or scroll through all image and file objects until everything loads
• Properties can be created but not edited, such as adding items to multi-select fields on mobile
• Sync is extremely basic, with no completion status, no progress indicator, and no history of successful syncs. I’m used to Syncthing so this feels strange
• When inserting code blocks, pasting content causes odd behavior
Extra features that would be nice to have but aren’t essential to my workflow:
• Kanban on mobile
• Reminders
• Calendar for mobile
• Local-only space sharing
• Multiple account selection so I don’t have to log out and log in just to switch accounts
