Also maybe another layout or docoment type option like, diagram, flow chart or mind map, in addition to the current basic, note, pages, profile etc, can be added. In that layout, we can make diagrams where every ”node” of the diagram (node being media, text or embeded link to another object) are blocks.
This way, if “everything is a block” type ideas can be implimented, then we can connect the relevent part (block) of our diagram, to any other object, through relations. And, those relations would show up in the graph view.
Thanks.
Since the devs mentioned that the layouts will be programmable with plugins, I’m sure that a lot of these would be implemented with time.
This might be better as a separate feature request though, and possibly in the API and plugin section as well.
Hello.
I have made a FR as you have suggested.
Gooday.
This idea is interesting and a neat way of implementation. This seems like a UI overhaul on that particular feature and would take a while to get in our hands.
I wrote a feature request that would be a simpler way imo to implement it faster and not involve to much ideally. Curious to know your thoughts.
+1, definitely needed. This would push Anytype even further ahead of Notion ![]()
Having a Whiteboard and linking notes is one reason why I’m still using Logseq beside Anytype.
Note, Obsidian has published an open source file format for their Canvas (whiteboard) data, with the intention that it might be a standard for interoperability of whiteboards between apps. Seems like a great idea to me.

From Obsidian i suggest to see also Excalidraw integration, with continue new feature it can be an alternative to mindmap or csnvas feature.
+1 This will help me a lot.
I seriously get a little excited each time this topic gets attention again. This is easily the biggest feature I really want for anytype.
Clickup today announced the whiteboard :
I can suggest WEJE.io ; it’s an excellent tool. I know they have plans to go open source and are looking to connect with other projects. It would be a very useful integration, and both would benefit.
Excalibur Draw also is a great option: excalidraw.com
Weje looks great. Similar to Heptabase at least at first glance. Having something like that integrated with Anytype would be amazing.
Hello! I know the team is not working on whiteboards at this moment, but I would just like to support the comments about Kosmik.

It’s coding seems to be, at least to my eyes, similar to Anytype. And if they are open to integration I feel like that would be great.
. But, we can also take inspiration from how this app was made.
And they posted that they are launching the windows app next week. Untill now it was only on Apple.![]()
Good day everybody.![]()
@Angelo
I‘ve been testing this out since a few days and it works flawless! Their concept of using the whiteboard is amazing and they are doing things a little bit different than miro or figma. But somewhow I prefer their approach of being able to stack the things on the whiteboard into different groups and lists. It‘s perfect for visual project management. A combination between Anytype and weje could really be awesome from my point of view. And since they are considering making weje opensource this could be a huge chance. May I ask what Anytype-Team is thinkg of this? ![]()
Update:
Their webclipper is amazing as well:
Only that is already worth having a look at it ![]()
Perhaps this will get a bit better with the new embed blocks.
yes, I think that will be a great start.
to me, this seems like the Graph view could become like a whiteboard/canvas.
it just seems like that would make perfect sense!
The graph view is cool to look at but this would add the functionality so that it would become more then just a cool view. it now becomes something that is very useful and powerful.
so maybe 2 different views
- Graph View
- Whiteboard view
I don’t see other apps trying to bring the whole experience together like AnyType is doing. that’s what makes Anytype different from all the others.
even in this video, those apps only focus one thing. Now that does help them create a quality product but I believe AnyType can do both, quantity and quality, this is what makes them stand out from the rest.
Embedded Miro pages coming in the next release, so it’s a start in this direction.
Interesting! Looking forward for it!
BUT hopefully this feature doesn’t open Pandora’s box for security issues!?!
Maybe someone finds a way to put harmful “code” (or something like that) into such a shared Miro page and one embeds it into Anytype …
A modern web browser has a lot of security features onboard for blocking dangerous scripts, and so on.
But can Anytype protect us evenly good from such possible threats?
This rumors in my mind all the time when I think that our beloved Anytype, at some point, will offer features as messaging, Email communication, shared parts of the second brain - and so on.
