As I hop on a very long flight, I’m thinking about what I miss in Anytype to really feel like I can work effectively offline. I can think of 4 main improvements that I really need:
Download status: being able to visualize the status of a specific file (is it downloading or not, is it partially downloaded, fully downloaded?)
Upload status: being able to visualize the status of a newly added file in terms of uploaded to the backup node (is it uploading or not, is it partially uploaded, fully uploaded)
[NOW AVAILABLE] Offline synchronization: being able to synchronize devices without having to connect to the internet (either through bluetooth or local wifi) or any complex set up
Anything else I’m missing? What other features do you think are needed to make Anytype truly comfortable to use offline?
I want that, too. Effectively, I would like anytype to be able to export all its data onto a local file, and then allow me to manually import that file into another anytype app that I have on my phone/another computer/etc.
I’m pretty new to Anytype, so I don’t have a lot of data that’s being synced between desktop and mobile. But I’d like to transfer without sync.
Wouldn’t this whole space export file eventually be too big to import on my phone?
Just an option to fully sync when online (with a confirmation that is really fully sync).
Realizing that you don’t have your shopping list synchronized once you’re in the store. Realizing during an event that the super note with ready-made programs and well-formatted notes to just complete… hasn’t been synchronized. And without network, you’re “truly offline” but without your notes. Sadly, this is from real-life experience!
Others might be useful, but this is the one I need to have confidence in the system.
Status of other nodes. I want to know on my laptop if my phone is fully synced, and if at least one other node is fully synced with my current node so that I can shut down my node knowing all my work will propagate. Preferably this takes the form of a network topology diagram with named devices that can be colored and assigned icons.
