I been reading about a target for a stable release date for Anytype for the public stable release. Which was in about 5-6 months as said in Juli this year (Some clarifications about the speed of development). Meaning a stable release early 2023.
Seeing the current state of Anytype and reading that the team still are not sure which direction to go with Anytype I wonder, what are the goal for the public release?
What features are going to make the public release?
I read about open source, complete offline mode, working sync (which I guess will become a paid service then) abd more and I feel we are far from these features. At the point of writing a new set I made yesterday is not syncing with my phone or work laptop for example.
Now, I don’t want to be a downer and look at it in a negative light. But I do wonder how realistic this time scedule is and also, I would love to know which features to focus on when testing Anytype to help out before it goes public.
I understand this question cannot be awnsered in exact details and I won’t hold anything said as an absolute truth but I hope someone can clarify this a bit.

I’m also curious about this. I would love to see a roadmap for the next 2 years. If going stable in early 23, it’s going to have to be a feature-light release. Not saying that as a negative but better to build a solid foundation and get the community rolling in while new features can be added to extend the platform moving forward. I wonder if all the features currently in play will be in master or if some things might get moved to a develop branch in order to keep the polish level consistent across the board for the stable release.
Yeah, it’s a difficult thing to ask, since we know how much work devs already put into this. It’s not like we’re paying customers.
Still, you do have a community of people supporting you the best they can, and looking forward to your app. Being realistic about your goals means having consideration to these people.
Here’s my personal story: I’ve been looking for an all-in-one note-taking/PKB solution for a decade. I have invested a lot of time in a few options throughout the years. In most cases, I abandoned the options once I realized they weren’t for me , which is fine. But a couple of times I had to abandon an option due to developers not being realistic (or honest - which I know is not the case with Anytype) about timelines and features. That sucks, since this is many hours of dedication a week across months, sometimes years.
Regarding sync we are already in the process of doing new infrastructure for Anytype, that means all the underlying data layer should utilise new algorithms which are specifically tailored for our data. Of course we should do a lot of testing first, but these changes should hopefully take place soon (early 2023, at least that is how we see it now).
Hello everyone. We are going to be more public with what are we doing, who we are and what will be done prior to public release. We are polishing this content internally for now and going to introduce it to the public as soon as we will be sure it is a really polished thing. But we are really focused on the transformation to the more transparent communication.
Our main goal for the public release is to give such a quality of product that some group of users would love to pay for being a part of the anytype network. In other words, to become a self sustainable organization. For this we believe a great sync and collaborative functions are essential. The new infrastructure it’s not a gradual project, we are rewriting it completely from scratch, when it will be ready it’ll be implemented and then you will be able to experience the new anytype sync. The early next year is pretty realistic for it. You can help with basically anything that does not work well for you by reporting it. Thank you for your questions and support!
I think it would not be possible to publish a roadmap for 2 years in the early days of our project. You could be sure that all features we have right now will be in master, except maybe the navigation parts as the home screen or the navigational panel. We plan to improve them.
