Search is the main way to access objects. However, many times it returned a lot of results, so it would be nice if we can get a full list of all results. This enables users to track the working status.
HOW COULD IT BE DONE?
Create a list of the returned results via
Option 1 Query based: All object query with inputted texts as filter
Option 2 Collection based: Add all returned results into a collection
When Advanced Filters / Queries is implemented, this will create a quicker way to create a set/query which matches all filters at search pane, rather than create set/query > give a name to query > set query > set individual filters.
Sorting of query/collection can be assumed as either ‘Last opened’ or ‘Recent objects’ or ‘Last modified’
REAL WORLD USE CASES
When returned results contain a long list, users can keep track of everything.
The search function is barely more then trash.
I wish every day what you request here! It wouldn’t change the fact that the search function itself lacks a lot features and doe not sufficient work. But to have the results in a kind of Query would massively help!
I have often Objects that have identical names.
Without seeing the additional information in the search function it’s impossible to distinguish them. But if they land in a kind of query, I could configure a View so that it provides the necessary information.
Something like this should have top priority in the roadmap.
I’ve just removed one of my other votes to give it your request!
Evernote allowed this, and it’s actually quite cool.
Although in practice, I’ve only used it four or five times in ten years…
The day we can use wildcards, filter by property, etc. via search, saving as a query will allow us to save something usable like Evernote.
Right now, as you say, if we do that, it would be more to continue searching because of the limitations of the search function, I think, which is a bit of a shame.
