What is essential to Anytype (and our local-first vision) is to enable collaboration, as silos and soloplayer experiences is not what the product is primarily designed for. From that standpoint, chat is a very important feature as well as discussions; additionally it also enables the (optional) usage of AI that is a heavily requested feature.
That being said, we also maintain a focus on many knowledge base features, the last release had primarily non-chat based updates. Additionally, one of the biggest upgrades we’re making in the next few months is entirely based on the knowledge base system. I don’t think it’s accurate to say Anytype is a chat app and we don’t focus on core system—but I do agree that it’s not accurate to say Anytype is a PKM app either. The goal is for it to have both and more.
To be clear, we are not ‘delaying’ reminders because we’re working on other things. It’s delayed because it’s taking longer than we anticipated. We understand that this is disappointing, which is why in the past the team rarely wanted to share explicit roadmaps (because of the likelihood of delays and disappointment). That being said, we are working on it and hopefully everybody will enjoy using them soon.
