Option to not show absent icons

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND?

With the new update, all objects show an icon. Even those who don’t have one.
I wish to have an option to actually not have any icon shown if none was selected. Just plain text.

HOW COULD IT BE DONE?

By giving the option to “get back” to the previous state before update 43.1.

REAL WORLD USE CASES

Having a forced icon shown just takes more space which can be inconvenient.

RECOMMENDED ALTERNATIVES

Can’t think of any.

ADDITIONAL CONTEXT

There is an option on the layout settings

Thanks for the tip. This works with that main object alone, hiding the icon shown in Name relation only… not linked/related objects e.g. object-supported relation (which bothers me the most )

Well, that does solve a part of the problem.
But as C.c commented, it doesn’t hide the icons in relations.
So it’s only a partial answer.

Yeah that’s a bit of an odd design decision IMO. Especially in an inline mention scenario. It used to be just an underline when there’s no icon but now that generic “page-like” icon is not pretty at all.

At the moment, we have no plans to add an global option to disable all of these default icons.

That is a shame.
Now I have to either have an ugly and less readable board OR use icons I don’t have the need for.

Whats the reasoning behind that decision?

It’s not a priority, maybe in the future.

Yea this just kills readability of my notes if I am linking to a lot of notes :pensive:
