Sometimes it is annoying, yes.
But sometimes it is good so.
I have a better idea:
After reopening the search, the complete term should be marked/selected.
That means, that if you now type something, it becomes deleted and overwritten.
But if you press cursor right or left, the term will be deselected and you can edit it.
