WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND?
Incorporate flow view into search pane
HOW COULD IT BE DONE?
At search pane, adding to the current enter to select object, allow users to use ← and → for displaying Links to/backlinks and link from.
- A left and right button beside each object to trigger each search results (for mouse) OR divide the object button into 3 sections for left/enter/right option
- After pressing left or right arrow, update/display the search results to show only the link to or the link from.
- Update the grey text ‘Search for an object’ to the function in action e.g. ‘Link to Object A’
On mobile, maybe swipe left or right.
In addition to the separate link to and link from, it would be great to have an accessible combined list of all linked objects at search as well, including link to, link from and relation. Maybe opt/alt+enter?
REAL WORLD USE CASES
With the current workflow, to find a linked object. We need go through a few panes:
- Search and then Open object
- Cursor to the relevant relation (if pinned), or Open relation pane to cursor to relation, or Open flow pane then cursor left/right
Through this method, searched object and linked objects will be at hand, improving workflow.
ADDITIONAL CONTEXT
This request might or might not have conflicts with archiving search Opening the Find/Search function should remove the previous search - #2 by Code-Jack
Answered question for design reference for this request
Before suggesting this feature, I would like a clarification of the current design of search pane version 2 in beta (v.0.40.29) cause this might cause conflict with this request.
The cursor object in search results has a right arrow → which perhaps is an indicator for enter/selection. Wouldn’t it make more sense to use this arrow ↲ ?
P.S. This request is inspired by team’s update on search.
