WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND

Have a way to open the context menu via the keyboard

HOW COULD IT BE DONE

Have a hotkey(i.e. alt+enter) to open the context menu

REAL WORLD USE CASES

Just makes editing faster with keyboards lol

RECOMMENDED ALTERNATIVES

There is the menu key on keyboards but like… come on who uses that?
Nvm it doesn’t even work lol

Excellent suggestion! Please note my related request to also allow the user to place a cursor/selection in the right place before using your suggestion to open the context menu with a hotkey:

I have a suggestion in my feature request to use the Return key as a hotkey, but that only works if you have a modifier key to switch between text-edit-mode and block-edit-mode (see also topic linked in my linked topic)

Alt + Enter is an Intellij hotkey, that’s the only reason I chose it XD

I will repeat the reply to Sam’s topic:
Nice idea, we will handle this one on the next iteration of mouseless interactions polishing. But for now it is a little bit off the priorities, so it is 100% acknowledged but I am not sure how soon it will be implemented

@Ciel hello again. Do you have any non-ide apps with expected behaviour to use as a reference?

Hello, may I ask why that matters? I just suggested this because I always preferred keyboard-centric editing. My expectation is: alt + enter to open the menu, arrow keys to navigate(press keys to search), esc to close and enter to choose. In case that’s what’s being ask for here?

It is easier for design and development of preexisting feature to have a reference to avoid blank sheet tension.
