Deleting subpages in each pages is so slow to do. With the current feature, just deleting the main pages themselves does not delete the pages inside it.
Imagine having around 200-ish pages, and each of them have subpages. (Thanks to Notion import😂)
That means users had to go through 200 pages, SELECT, and delete the subpage first before deleting the main page.
Describe the solution you’d like
We can try to have an option just below “archive this page”. It can be a toggle switch button with a label “Include Subpages”.
What it does is that it takes into account to also archive the subpages of the page.
Toggle button should also remember the user’s preference.

Go through each page. Select and delete subpages before deleting pages.
same problem here. Maybe a solution might be to have the option to delete multiple pages at once. For example select muliple Pages in a set…
would be great, i have deleted a Page with 100 Subpages.
Workaround => in history it is possible to select multiple pages. => first clear History => go to the set that contains the pages you want to delete => select one after the other => go back to History. Now you can select all - except the Set and delete:-)
Still slow, but better than nothing…
I often find myself with a huge amount of bookmarks, photos and other files i dont need anymore. I want to delete things immediately, without having to go through the steps of right click opening the file as object, accessing the menu, and moving them to the bin. It can be quite a hassle to have to do this every time I want to delete a file, and sometimes I just don’t bother, resulting in a cluttered graph view and a lot of unnecessary files. To make this process easier, I need an efficient way to delete the objects without having to go through multiple steps each time.
HOW COULD IT BE DONE
A simple right click and move to bin option would help a lot. Or even better a bin sign when going with the mouse over it or something.
REAL WORLD USE CASES
I think it would save a lot of time since I’m guessing a lot of people just deleting the block with the bookmark for example instead of actually opening it first to delete it. Now i have to go through every single one of them to decide if I wanna keep it.
The bookmark block in the canvas is just a link to the bookmark object. If you’re at all familiar with Anytype, I can’t really see why you would think that deleting a block deletes the linked object as well.
Also, I would guess that most people delete blocks either using backspace or del on their keyboard, and deleting your objects like that doesn’t seem like good UX to me.
I’d recommend pasting links as links instead of bookmarks unless they are really important to you. That way you won’t end up with a ton of bookmark objects.
And yes, there should be a better way to manage bookmarks and objects in general. For instance, if we could use a set to somehow filter all of our orphans, that would be great.
I actually like it better to paste links always as a bookmark so i have a nice preview and stuff but yeah i probably should have deleted the stuff immediately. I changed the request now to get a better and more efficient option to delete things in general guess this makes more sense.
Adding an automatic cleanup feature for unused attachments. When you delete certain files (such as images), pages, or objects, the related files are still retained in your file space, which is obviously not an ideal scenario.
HOW COULD IT BE DONE
You can provide a prompt when deleting, asking for confirmation. Here are the specific details:
When deleting specific files, such as images, PDFs, or other files within a page, display a popup with options to confirm the deletion of the corresponding file. The popup should include an additional option labeled “Don’t ask again” so that users can directly delete without further confirmation for such cases. Additionally, the option to prompt for confirmation or not should be configurable.
When deleting an object, such as a page that contains numerous files, a popup should appear to confirm the deletion. Similar to the previous scenario, this popup should also be a configurable setting.
Since options 1 and 2 allow users to retain unused files, it would be helpful to provide filtering capabilities in the file management system. This way, unused files can be easily listed and managed.
When adding notes, I sometimes add image or video files. However, not all notes need to be saved permanently, and these additional files remain in my library after temporary notes are deleted. Over time, these no-longer-needed files can accumulate and take up a lot of storage space
How Could It Be Done?
I would like to have the ability to clear unused files with a single click, so that when I run this action, all images, videos, etc. that are not referenced by notes can be automatically cleared to free up storage space and keep the file library tidy.
Real World Use-Cases
When writing a blog, I make it a habit to organise all the information I need into notes and keep them in my note-taking system. As the writing process progresses, I may keep revising and adding material. However, some of the added material may be discarded. After completing the blog and reviewing it for accuracy, I will delete these discarded material notes. However, attachments added to these deleted profile notes, as well as files that were previously inserted into the blog post but later felt inappropriate and deleted, will still remain in my note-taking system. Over time, these useless files would accumulate and take up a lot of storage space. In order to solve this problem, I would like to provide a shortcut to “Clear Unused Material”. By simply clicking this button, the system will automatically clear all unused files and attachments, freeing up storage space and keeping the notes system tidy.

Every time I delete an attachment in my notes I go to “all objects” and find the attachment and delete it together, it’s horrible!
I agree. We need SOME kind of functionality to find these “homeless images” or whatever.
I’m a trader and I recently started transitioning to Anytype for my documentation needs. The issue is, each day when I sit down and look at the charts, I have “ideas” of things I might want to see…and that comes with me littering 15+ images nested into other objects. But within a few hours or days, I don’t need those images any more.
Optimally, when I delete the object that the image is nested into, I’d like the image to go with it. However, I know that’s not how it works with Anytype.
I was using Joplin before, and I might have to go back for certain things since my cloud storage isn’t going to last long with all these unused images piling up. On Joplin, the image is stored separately, too, but it has functionality to realize that an image hasn’t been linked to an object for X amount of time, and then it purges it.
I would either like some optional setting to delete images while I delete the object they’re nested into, or, at very least, I’d like a way of creating a set that would highlight which images are homeless (no longer nested inside of a parent object) so that I can delete them by hand.
If you have other ideas of how to accomplish this, feel free. Automatically would be ideal, but at least give me the ability to do it manually.
Unfortunately, I handle such a large amount of images between my notes, ideas, etc that I can’t just visually curate each one and know for certain that it’s not also part of some other notes I have (that I want to keep).
Unfortunately, for whatever reason, when I create a set with images (first off, it seems bugged on my end, it won’t let me select image as an object type for a set. I had to select creation date and then filter for object type: image). When I created the set of images and enabled the “backlink” relationship in the set, none of my images show a backlink at all. And I know for certain that 100% of my images aren’t orphaned. Lol. So, the idea is good, but it doesn’t seem to work in practice unfortunately.
Capacities (object based as well) handles this very well, When deleting a page a pop-up window ask you if you want to just delete the parent object or all nested childs. It would a great improvement feature for Anytype.
