Logged in fresh, Sync never finishes

What’s The Bug?

I logged in fresh in the desktop app in my existing account.

Sync never seems to get finished.

It is sitting here for over 10 minutes now and nothing changes:

I also have some 500 errors like:

image

Restarted the app, no change, same appearance of the sync popup

Deleted the directory again, synced fresh, same result

I was able to view and download the file though:

So it seems that the sync worked somehow ?

How To Reproduce It

  • delete the whole anytype directory on your machine
  • login again

The Expected Behavior

no sync errors

Don’t know if this is helpful, but I noticed the same thing on the chat space ‘nightly-ops’

It is always there, in sync status.

More info:

Just changed channel on that anytype account, which made a fresh re-sync.
Now this happens:

Both on Nightly-Ops and my normal spaces, have everything synchronized, but the icon keeps pulsing.

And now that “Old pinned” does not exist. And I created a new collection on “Nightly Ops” by mistake, sorry !

this is what I also experience in a separate thread here: Yet another sync issue after a fresh login. I’m not sure what is not correct, a false sync status, or if something else might not be okay (my data).

@sturdily could you make a screenshot of the second popup, when you click on the anysync smiley icon?

Yeah, it does say that there is 1 object syncing… but I don’t know what that object is really.

Same in other spaces:

But everything is synched!

on one side, I finally have some hope that my spaces aren’t borked and that it is perhaps only a client side issue. on the other side, we all could be borked. let’s hope the team can reproduce this and enlighten us.

Hum…

So… either you’re crazy, or we are all crazy? is that what you mean?

(joke about the crazy comment on another bug report  )

Joking aside: I am kinda convinced that it might just be client side issue, or a disabled system object that is missing (and not a real issue). I say that because I tested on a new space, with few objects, and everything seems alright, nothing is missing.

agreed. as I have experience data loss in other apps and services multiple times in different scopes, I’m always a bit uneasy when the app or service indicates that something is missing and I don’t have any feedback about what the actual issue is (or not  ).

This report has been added to our issue tracker and received by the Development Team.

on 0.46.67-alpha (not really sure if due to version), Nightly Ops still is always in doing sync:

But the space is finished now:

when I use my phone at the same time, so P2P kicks in, my personal space also stopped pulsating. perhaps it’s the case here?
as long as I rely just on the server after initial syncing, it never stops pulsating while displaying the status “syncing…”

This issue has been fixed by the Development Team and will be implemented in an upcoming release.
