Less friction while inserting a Relation in a Page

What Do You Recommend?

At the moment, the most frictionless way to add a new Relation (and then choosing one) seems to be typing “/ne”.
This triggers the lookup for “+ New Relation” so that pressing Enter does the Job.

But it has cost me about 10 weeks to find out … <:-(

I suggest to rename the item in the lookup list from “+ New Relation” to “+ Relation”.
The idea is, that we can in future simply type “re” (followed by pressing Enter) to add a new Relation.

But there are some another goofs with the lookup list:

1. When we type “/relation” (character by character), the focus in the lookup list stays on “Set”.
   What on earth triggers that?
   By the way: we want to add MUCH more often a Relation, then a Set!

2. When we type “/s” the focus goes not to “Set”, but on “Delete”! - Why?
   And when we type “/se” the focus switches on “Dots Devider”! - Why??

3. When we want to change a background color, it’s enough to type “/b” and the focus comes to the background colors.
   But not so for the text color! Typing “/t” or “/te” or even “/text” doesn’t set the focus on the text colors, but on different other items. - Why?

4. Typing “/to” doesn’t set the focus on “Toggle”, but on “Checkbox”! - Why?

5. Typing “/ca” doesn’t set the focus on “Callout”, but on “Code Snippet”! - Why?

6. Typing “/ta”, nor even /table" doesn’t set the focus on “Table” or “Table of Contents”. But on “Inline Collection”! - Why?

7. Typing “li” sets the focus on “Allign Left”, but not on the entries with “link”.
   Also “/ad” doesn’t set the focus on “Add Link”, but on “Inline Collection”! - Why?

8. Also please make the lookup list much BIGGER!
   There’s enough space on the screen and the app knows it!
   There’s no need for endless scrolling in the list.

Additional Context

The lookup list is surely one of the most used functions in Anytype.
We all use it often per day.
Why is here so much goofy friction?

The filtering conditions depend on the menu title, item name and item description. Because there is no mention of weights, the current state is basically to display matches in sequential order.

Not for me.
But I see that it doesn’t work for you either!
The focus is on “Set” in your pic.
You’ll need to press cursor down before Enter.

Oh, now I see what you mean. You are right, only “/ne” works which is awkward, because I always thinking about Relations…

(I hope that forces the developpers to choose well-considered shortcuts without strange interferences.)

I agree there is so much friction in adding relation to page. Other than the listed ones above, I would prefer relation type to be considered as individual elements instead of sub-elements to object type. It just takes too much efforts to grant (custom) relation type to an object (without it being default in template / object type).

My use case:
I have custom relations: one called CORE to indicate parent relation and one called RELATED to indicate sibling hierarchy.

• CORE is needed for almost every object. I could add it to all object types and all templates (still a lot of works).
• RELATED is only on-demand. I always need to
  1 /rel (Ignoring the trouble I put onto myself using similar relation name from system default command - /related and /relation )
  2 arrow down 3. enter 4. type part of the relation name 5. arrow down 6. enter 7. mouse over and click 8. enter the relation content
  Since this is an object supported relation type: 9. type destination object name 10. arrow down (can’t simply enter - it creates new object instead) 11. enter
  11 Steps for one relation connection to another object are way too much efforts.
  If I need to connect multiple objects (for every object I need to add 4 more steps): 1. (since it sometimes loses focus) mouse click input space 2. type name 3. arrow down 4. enter

I turned to set or relation pane, but it is still very cumbersome.
