So i ran into a problem with images filtering
Currently there’s no way i can quickly see all images from a certain note in a query because they don’t auto link to it
And what’s the point then? Like, gallery view is a best way to handle images, but it lacks its functionality so much!
I don’t have time to manually click into every single image in a note to open it as an object and then add custom relations so i could see them later in the image query and filter out to my needs
It would be great if they had some connection to the source note. Because now it’s easier not to use them at all and that’s sad. Hope you consider it.
They are considering it. As you can see in the topic tags, it is in the Planning stage. You can add a vote to the original feature request, at the top, if not already.
I’m really really happy that we finally have backlinks for images!
But for existing Objects with existing images, the Backlinks Property is empty. :-/
Also, if I manually add a new image to an Object, it appears in the Graph and so on, but it still has no backlink. That means, I would need to connect the image manually to an Object.
Please create these backlinks automatically if a ne image is added into a Page aka Object!
– Also for already existing Objects with images inside them, create these backlinks.
HOW COULD IT BE DONE?

REAL WORLD USE CASES
It was often explained why backlinks for images are Incredible important. But it makes not so much sense if we need to do the connection manually for each image.

ADDITIONAL CONTEXT
Dear @Razor, please tell me if you can add this in short time?
I really need the backlinks but it would be a tremendous amount of work to connect all the existing mages to the Pages they belong. Often it isn’t even possible to find out what belongs together.
I have a significant concern regarding the workflow. When I copy and paste images onto a page, those images are created as individual Image Objects and appear in the Image Objects. Crucially, the system does not automatically create a backlink or a relation between the image object and the source page where it was pasted.
Hi, Anytype Team, Please consider this common use case: If I have 20 pages, each containing 10 quickly copy-pasted figures, this results in 200 images in the Image Objects that have no automatic clues regarding their source Pages. This lack of automated linking/relations makes managing files a complete mess.
To resolve this, I strongly request that please implement automatic linking between an Image Object and the page from which it was copy-pasted. Thank you.
This is an important feature for organising images.
For cover page, although there is a property (under hidden objects flag) of “cover image or color”, it displays a meaningless (perhaps encrypted code) of the cover image / colour, which prevents users to reuse the image else where or figure out the media used from an All object Query.
If we have backlinks for images, we could identify and access the image.
Use case:
I am trying to reorganise some older objects and move their cover page to canvas (and refresh these objects with newer cover image), but since I don’t know the image’s name, I couldn’t search for it, to link, or redisplay/reuse or transclude the image.
It would also be great if at this occasion we could identify the images that are left over as “image is broken” blocks from Anytype’s Feb 17, 2024 migration. And either search for orphaned images, or for broken image blocks.
