Float layout width setting/slider on top of page while scrolling

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND

When adjusting the layout width, float the slider on top of the page so you don’t lose it while scrolling.

HOW COULD IT BE DONE

It could stay in place once it’s at the top part of the page and you start scrolling downwards. Like the behavior of fixed menus that stay on top of websites.

REAL WORLD USE CASES

I usually have to adjust my layout width because I have blocks placed side by side, and I have to check if the width of the columns are enough for my texts. With the current design, I have to…

  1. Scroll up to “set layout width”, adjust slider
  2. Scroll back down to where I’m typing
  3. Scroll back up again (upon seeing that it needs more adjustment), adjust slider
  4. Scroll down again and repeat until satisfied.

It’s a bit of a hassle if the part you’re adjusting the width for is way down the length of the page. If the slider remains afloat, the adjustment would be much faster without the need to go back and forth.
