Embedded Collection sorting does not respect order in the left pane (Tree Layout)

WHAT IS THE BUG

When using the new persistent left pane / tree view (in three-pane layout), an embedded collection inside a page does not respect the manual sort order set in that collection. The objects appear in the wrong order (likely default/creation date order) in the left column.

This breaks the expected persistent navigation behavior for embedded collections (which works well if a collection is directly pinned to the left pane).

HOW TO REPRODUCE IT

  1. Create or open a page that contains an embedded collection.

  2. In the embedded collection, set a specific manual sort order (e.g., by dragging items or choosing a custom sort).

  3. Pin that page to appear on the left pane and make its view hierarchical.

  4. Observe that the objects from the embedded collection appear in the left pane in the incorrect order.

THE EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

The left pane should display the objects from the embedded collection in exactly the same order as configured/sorted inside the embedded collection itself, just like it does for regular collections.

ADDITIONAL CONTEXT

  1. Discussed first in this thread: https://community.anytype.io/t/ux-improvement-persistent-tree-list-view-to-avoid-context-switching-three-pane-layout/30860
  2. The feature generally works well for standard collections pinned to the left pane, but fails specifically for embedded ones in pages.
  3. Navigation / left-pane UX improvements.

If I’m not mistaken, the sidebar displays the ‘master’ collection’s order not the one represented in the inline collection. So if you want it to change, then change it in the collection itself.

It does not. I tried that before. This case really does not work.

Here is a screen shot:

Then I tried to order alphabetically:

This is the bug I encountered a while back.

At least I know it works if this is a pinned collection. But it does not work if embeded. It should follow the order of either the original collection or best, the order in the object where it is embeded.

Kind regards!
