Counting the number of items in a set/collection

I’m wondering if there’s a way to show the number of items in a collection/set.
Currently, the only way I’ve found is by selecting all the rows with a mouse. Using CTRL+A selects everything but doesn’t show the number of items selected like selecting with the mouse.
