Collection in Desktop and Mobile has not the same ordering

Hi, have searched about an earlier entry from someone else. Hope I do not overlooked one. Otherwise sorry.

The ordering in Desktop and Mobile is not the same (not in sync)

Because of the " cut without replacement" from the Legacy-Homescreen (Homescreen from Legacy App - #25 by _Martin) I have built a Collection named Favorites and Linked all my important Objects to this Collection view-setting “All” – “Show icon” – “View as:Gallery”.
In the meantime I have also deleted all auto-sorting entries in Mobile Version.
Next I have drag&drop each of the linked object in Collection “Favorites” to the needed place in the row/columns view as gallerie.

First all was fine in all Devices (Desktop:Mac OS + Desktop:Win10 + Mobile:Android.

But in the meantime, the Desktop sorting is still in sync from Mac ↔ Win. But in the Android Version some Objects set to second and third place in Desktop is shown in the second pageing page from Android mobile.

HOW TO REPRODUCE IT

So I tried to find some setting problems. But also in Mobile there are no added/different sorting, filterung or showing settings.

#First

I tried also to create a new empty object, added with copy&paste all Data in the new Object, added to Favorites and clicked also the "Link to “Favorites”(Collection).
But the out of sync/sorting-order in Mobile is still there. The new filled copy in Desktop is in first place top left.
But in mobile still not in the first place top left, also not in the first paging-list. It is also in the second paging-list next to the original-object.

#Second

Then I tried to flush the cashe in Android. No change.

#Third

Then I deleted all data from Anytype App in Android.
Have the app connected new with the data over QR-Code and have waited around 1h. All Objects are back.

But it is stil out of order. And now after delete data, rebuild the App, the sorting is more crazy then before.

#Fourth

I tried to resort it in the Desktop. But the mobile seams to be not sync looking to sorting. When I change some title or data, all syncing works fine. But not the sorting order from the main Collection.

THE EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

I woild guess, the collection-sorting in mobile and desktop Version should be the same, when I drag&drop Objects in the Desktop-View.

And I guess about 99% first it was also in Sync. But I did not check until the last object in the collection.

SYSTEM INFORMATION

  • Anytype Version:
    v.0.33.0

Samsung Galaxy A51

  • OS:
    Android 13 – One UI 5.1

ADDITIONAL CONTEXT

Have checked tree time the settings on mobile, because there was first some auto-entry “name”–>
but now there is no sorting-entry at all in any of the devices:
Mobile: “No sorts here. You can add some”
Desktop: “No sorts appleid to this view”

Do you also experience this in Sets?

To be honest,
I only have 2 used “sets”, but only use as inline-sets.
But both in grid view with particular sorting and viewing settings for GTD-stuff.

So no, I do not have experienced problems with sets. But it was not to experienced them because of not used gallery-view with NO sorting, filtering or dragAndDrop sorting.

Would it help to check?
If so, I could do a clone and delete all the sortings/filters. But to be honest, I guess the problem/bug is not at the beginning. Maybe it grow by filling with new objects in the collection-gallery.

Please let me know, if I could do some tests, checks or log-printouts from my side.

Perhaps this is a problem the ability to manual arrange the order of object in collection on desktop.
CleanShot 2023-07-15 at 19.11.25@2x (this button to rearrange)

This rearrangement function is either not supported or not reflected on mobile.

I experienced this on iOS and iPadOS 16.5.1 with App Store version of Anytype, but no problem on android

Are you using the custom sort for the collections or something else?

No custom sort no special settings or filter:

But there seams to be “ONLY” some objects «out of sorting-sync».
When I move other objects in Desktop-Collection they are move also in mobile. At the end they are in sync.

BUT some objects seams to be not visible anymore for Desktop-Mobile-synchronization. As if they fell out of the synchronization mode “Desktop-Mobile”. But in the Desktop-Desktop (Mac OS - Win10) synchronization mode they would still be included.

And exactly these few objects thrown out of the sync process simply cannot be re-integrated into the sync process.

I have tried it as described above with cloning and also create new object and fill with old data. It remains also as clone or new object with old data (all marked and copied into the new object) excluded from sync process (Desktop-Mobile).

Totally illogical and inexplicable. But obviously happened somehow.
Because the other objects can be moved around without any problems and synchronize within seconds.
But these ejected ones seem to no longer exist in this Desk-Moblie_Sync-Process. The other objects move just right around the unsynchronized ones and these remain stubbornly in the completely wrong place.

What I meant by custom sort is the manual sort @C.c mention in the post before me. It might be related to that. The feature might not yet be implemented on mobile.

OK, Thank for clarificytion @Filip,

I have done some try&error more deeply with new create Objects (empty) and then fill with the old content from the objects those are out-of Desk-Mob-Sync.

Strange:Some of the new created Objects (type Pages) with button «new» in Favorites-Collection are in Desk and Mobile in the first place top-left. Also move in Desktop will sync in Mobile.
Exatelly 2 (ONLY TWO) of them.

BUT after this two objects, every new Object (same type Page - also created with «new» button in Desk in Favorites-Collection, but also tried with «+» Button in Desk-Dashboard and «new» button in Mobile Favorites-Collection)
is sorted in Mobile on Page TWO (2 of the Pagination of the Favorites-Pagination) of Objects-Listing.

And strangely all of them (6) are moveable in Desktop (on top-left → First Place and follow).
BUT in the Mobile sorting-List the (in Desktop per Drag&Drop) changed sorting-order is reflected in Page 2 of the Pagination-List. So RIGHT sorting BUT in WRONG Pagination-List-Position.

Because of this tests/trial&error I’m quiite sure, these bug has to do with the Pagination-List-Solution of Collections.

Hope this will help to reproduce and fix the bug.

Hey, are you still experiencing this?

Hey @Filip,
because of lacking the sync I have killed the Favorite Approach. Now I use the Widget-Approach to have a better overview and there the sync is fine.

So I do not able to answer your question anymore. Sorry…
