Let me set a default object type of a collection. When I click new object row in the collection, it will create a object of that type.
HOW COULD IT BE DONE
Add it under or next to collection in the image below. There should also be an option to keep it as it is now.
REAL WORLD USE CASES
For easier creation of collection objects.
RECOMMENDED ALTERNATIVES
This has similar benefit but adding default type would allow me to tailor it for specific collections.
ADDITIONAL CONTEXT
If you want to take this even further, it would be nice to even set default relations. Like for the To Read collection, it would set To Read tag. (let me know if I should make a new post for this if needed.
Just realized that default type combined with default relations could be taken even further with collection templates.
I don’t know if that wouldn’t be too much though…
Hey in this image, is that content preview or just description preview. Cause I would love to see content preview come to the app. Huge upgrade to dariy and notes collections and sets!
In which version will this be implemented? I’m on 0.34.3, but when I set the default type of a collection to Task and then set the global default back to Page, the collection reverts to creating Pages by default.
Sure, here’s a recording. In Preferences, I set the global default to ‘Task’. In my collection, I choose ‘Task’ as the default and when I click ‘New’, it creates a ‘Task’. I go back to Preferences and set the global to ‘Page’. Back in my collection, the default has now changed to a Page. I want the collection to remember that its default is a ‘Task’. I want to create other collections of blogs, courses, etc and have their defaults be ‘Blog’, ‘Course’, etc. How do I do this?
Collections and sets are very different things. That’s why I got confused since collections don’t have this option yet at all.
Anyways, that behavior seems like a bug so please write a bug report for it.
