Blank screen on launch after import

WHAT IS THE BUG

After importing from Notion, the space it was imported to crashes the app and shows nothing but a blank screen. I did see this error but on windows and I’m on Mac.

HOW TO REPRODUCE IT

  1. Import from Notion to a channel

  2. open the channel you imported the information to

THE EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

AnyType to open so I can access the channel

ADDITIONAL CONTEXT

I am running MacOS 26.4 which is still in beta but I’ve never experienced an issue with this before. I did see another bug that had a similar situation but they were on windows. I did already try to uninstall and then reinstall AnyType but it doesn’t work. I also can access the other channels just fine, it’s just that one that’s messed up. It will stay at the blank screen if that channel was the last one I have open.

Maybe the same as here :

Hey, could you please try this:

  1. Open the app and go to File → Open → Config Directory.

  2. Quit the app completely.

  3. Locate and rename the file named localStorage-.json.

  4. Reopen the app.

  5. Log in and check if everything works as expected.

I’m not sure what I should name it now. I did find the file and I opened it in x-code, I don’t have nearly enough knowledge to know what I’m doing though.

Hey, you need to rename this file rather than opening it in an app. Simply rename it to ‘localStorage-backup.json’.

I’m experiencing the same issue on Linux. Installed as Flatpak, version 0.54.9

It’s my first time using Anytype. I tried to import a database from Notion, which worked. It created 2 collections. One named after the database itself (i.e. NotionTasks) and another after the import event (?) (i.e. Notion Import 4-2-2026)

I deleted the import collection. The NotionTasks collection remained accessible without an issue.

At some point the screen went black, with only the top menu bar accessible. I followed the instructions above (renaming the json file) but the issue remains.

When I load Anytype, my channels flash for a second (I can see the Tutorial channel and my new channel on the left side) but then everything goes black again.

Anything else I could try? Thanks in advance.

Update: I fixed it by uninstalling the flatpak version of the app and installing the .deb version

Okay I did that but it still crashes when I open the channel.

I think this might be a mac issue since there’s only one version available for the Apple Silicon.

Anything else I can try to open to fix the issue?

Update: I updated my mac and reinstalled Anytype and now it’s working! I have no clue what y’all did but thank you!
