Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
We can protect the content stored in Anytype with a pin on the Desktop. It would be great to see similar protection for our content on the devices that are more prone to be lost or stolen: mobile devices.
Describe the solution you’d like
Three options:
Don’t lock (for those who have nothing to hide )
Lock with pin
Lock with biometics if available on the device (with pin as backup)
Describe alternatives you’ve considered
Don’t install Anytype on a mobile device if there is any private or sensitive content stored in your Anytype account.
Just want to lend my support for this feature. AnyType had been my first thought for a very sensitive note I had to write, but then I realized I had to move it to a different app today because there is no extra layer of security on iOS like there is on the Mac app.
Great suggestion! That’s the first setting I was trying to find after installing the app on my android phone… really looking forward for this feature to be implemented.
At the moment, it’s the main reason why I hesitate to use the mobile app.
Any updates on the implementation of this feature?
I’m on android and I just updated to the beta version.
On my laptop I was able to lock Anytype with a pin but on the phone there’s no option yet to do so
I would love to be able to lock the app on my phone with biometrics or pincode so that I could keep the app on my homescreen and be assured that even if I lend my phone to a friend or family member they couldn’t see my sensitive info.
Atm I have to keep the app in a hidden folder…
Much love to the Anytype team for all the work done so far
There are no plans for this one at the moment, but if it will receive significant amount of upvotes we will try to squeeze this one in

I’m wondering why this is possible on desktop but not on mobile. It’s such an important feature especially when it comes to a privacy-conscious app like AnyType. Thanks team!
It’s very odd indeed. I don’t think it will be added anytime soon unless it has a lot of votes. So thanks to anyone who voted and let’s spread the word!
@Charlotte@ignatovv, this feature is essential for mobile users and should have priority, even though it has not received many votes yet. It is unclear how representative the current community is, but I suppose that it is likely that the majority of Anytype users are in need of some form of protection for their personal data on mobile devices. This is particularly important as Anytype has a reputation for being an app which has privacy at its core. I’d appreciate your consideration of integrating this important feature.
While this is a good feature to have, there are alternatives on mobile’s system setting that can partially substitute this.
On Android, it is possible to lock app with App pinning or screen pinning.
On iOS, it is possible to reduce screen time for specific app’s duration to 1 minute per day and request screen time code to restrict access, as long as you intentionally open the app for 1 min per day. Maybe pair this with a shortcut to enable automation.
This is a much needed feature, which I hope the team implements. Like many here re-iterated, for a privacy focussed app like anytype, this feature shouldn’t be a second thought.
However, I use an app called Cape for iOS, which helps me counter the lack of this feature, but that is cumbersome. I hope the excellent devs of this project help us have a closure to this long pending issue.
