We’re wrapping up the year with one more release :wrapped_gift:
Without big sparkles, but with a lot of shine: plenty of fixes, smoother interactions and a bunch of quality-of-life improvements.

Membership Update

The Membership screen was updated, and you can now purchase group memberships by adding as many seats as you need: everyone in the group gets the selected membership level and can create shared Channels with the updated Editors limit. You can also purchase the Remote Storage add-on with the Ultra membership level.

To purchase or manage your membership, the app will redirect you to the new billing page.

Quality of Life Improvements

Updated Remote Storage Screen

Remote Storage settings now adapt to your role: owners see storage usage against their limit and can review all files in the Channel, while members see only the files they uploaded.

Delete Type with Related Objects

Deleting a Type now includes a confirmation step that shows which Objects are using that Type. You can choose to move those Objects to Bin at the same time.

Widget Sections Management

Customize Sidebar was renamed to Manage Sections and now opens in a centered pop-up from the Channel context menu. The three-dot menus for Pinned and Recently edited were also updated with a Hide section option.

Bin as a Widget

Bin is now available as a Widget, with its own three-dot menu. You can also rearrange or hide it via Manage Sections.

Create Chats from Slash Menu

Chats are now available in the Editor’s / menu, so you can create them inline while working on a Page.

Create Channel from Compact Vault

A + button was added to the Vault’s stripe view, making it easier to create new Spaces and Chats without expanding the sidebar.

Help and Gallery in Compact Vault

When the Vault is set to stripe view, hover over your profile icon to reveal quick access to the Help menu and Gallery.

Compact Vault Shows Only Unread Counter

In the Vault’s strip view, Space and Chat icons now show only the unread counter, with the mention indicator hidden to keep the layout clean.

Message Sending Status in Vault Preview

Chats in the Vault now show when your latest message is still sending, so you can instantly see which conversations are waiting to sync.

Counts for Search Results in Views

When you use local search in a View, the count now reflects the number of visible results. Thanks to @Code-Jack!

Property Editing in Grid View

When editing a property in Grid view, clicking outside now closes the dropdown first instead of immediately switching to the next field.

Horizontal Scrollbar in Grid and Kanban

Grid and Kanban views now show a sticky horizontal scrollbar, so you can scroll sideways even when you’re not at the bottom of a Query or Collection, especially helpful if you don’t use a touchpad.

Copy and Paste Added to Text Menu

Copy, Cut and Paste actions are now available from the Editor’s text block menu.

Auto-Link When Pasting URLs

When text is selected, pasting a URL with Cmd+V / Ctrl+V now automatically turns it into a link in both the Block Editor and Chat Input, without showing the paste options menu.

Improved Bullet Indentation

When you decrease indentation for bullet points, items now stay aligned and keep their order.

Updated Table Shortcut

The Shift+Space shortcut no longer opens table cell/row options by default. To restore this function, you can assign a shortcut for Table cell options in Shortcut settings. Thanks to @krst!

Filter out Types in Graph

In Filter by Types, you can now hide all existing Types using a dedicated toggle. Thanks to @Code-Jack!

Custom CSS and Dark Mode Styling Refined

We adjusted how theme styles are applied in dark mode to make custom CSS and theme tweaks easier to maintain. Thanks to @GrubSlant!

Text Formatting Menu Position

The text formatting menu now adjusts if the Sidebar opens, avoiding overlap with Widgets. Thanks to @Code-Jack!

Update Pop-up Is Now Movable

The “Update in progress” pop-up no longer blocks interactive parts of the app – you can drag it aside while an update is running. Thanks to @TiedaoXianren!

More Tooltips on Hover

Added tooltips to a few previously unlabeled icons and controls, including Sync status, the profile icon in the Vault, and several buttons in chat. Thanks @Code-Jack for reporting!

Consistent Actions on Object Type

Object Type pages now show the same actions – like Pin and the three-dot menu – whether opened from Settings or Widgets.

Search Auto-Focus for Icons and Covers

When you open Add Icon or Add Cover (Unsplash/Library), the search field is now focused automatically so you can start typing to filter right away.

Remember Last Download Location

Anytype now remembers where you last saved a file and opens the same folder next time you download or export.

Bug Fixes

Chat & Messaging

  • Pressing Tab in chat no longer makes the cursor disappear by dropping focus from the input. Thanks to @Code-Jack!
  • A copied link for a specific message now leads to the correct message in chat. Thanks to @Code-Jack!
  • Double-clicking a word in chat now behaves like text selection, instead of triggering Reply. Thanks to @e1sordo!
  • Direct Channels now reflect the updated participant name correctly. Thanks to @e1sordo!
  • Chat bubbles with text and multiple images now resize smoothly and no longer overlap the Sidebar.
  • Space notifications now handle long names to include the Chat Object name.
  • Pasting multiple links in chat no longer causes formatting side effects.
  • Link styling in chat now underlines the full link consistently.

Editor & Blocks

  • Accepting an autocorrect suggestion no longer converts inline LaTeX into plain text. Thanks to @dzlg!
  • Unlink no longer strips inline LaTeX formatting or shifts inline text styles in the block. Thanks to @geesecross!
  • Selecting text inside long code blocks now remains precise while dragging. Thanks to @szc188!
  • Empty toggles now accept the cursor with a single click. Thanks to @Code-Jack!
  • The Editor no longer flickers when you paste content or click into the empty space at the bottom of long pages. Thanks to @Facility6384!
  • HTML entities are now kept as plain text, instead of being automatically converted into characters. Thanks to @GrubSlant!
  • Local search (Ctrl/Cmd+F) lets you click a highlighted result to jump to it and continue editing, without dismissing search. Thanks to @sooyoung!
  • Hyperlinks inside square brackets no longer disappear after searching for that bracketed text.

Keyboard & Shortcuts

  • Pressing Esc now closes a media preview before exiting full-screen mode. Thanks to @e1sordo!
  • Pressing Esc to close an Object opened from View search results now only closes the modal and keeps the search results intact. Thanks to @Code-Jack!
  • Cutting content with Ctrl+X in a long page no longer causes the view to jump back toward the top. Thanks to @Code-Jack!

UI & Rendering

  • Collections/Queries without an icon now keep proper top padding. Thanks to @LionLobes!
  • Multiple open windows no longer show a loading bubble. Thanks to @C.c!
  • Clicking or dragging in the Vault header no longer causes long pages to scroll upward.
  • The keyboard shortcut hint on Channel hover is now visible when the name is long.
  • The loading Channel placeholder in the Vault now keeps a correct size.
  • Reloading the app in dark mode no longer flashes a white screen.

Edit Type

  • Changes to Property order/sections in the Edit Type persist after the app refresh. Thanks to @raph!
  • The Edit Type settings panel now closes automatically when you switch to a different Channel or open another Object.

Objects & Views

  • Creating an Object with Basic/Action/Profile layout now displays the Untitled placeholder.
  • In manually sorted Queries/Collections, dragged objects now drop exactly on the indicated insertion line. Thanks to @Bass-T!

Navigation

  • After reloading, the Back button no longer navigates back to the Entering Vault screen. Thanks to @geesecross!
  • Switching between Objects no longer causes the opened Object to flicker.
  • Opening Objects in a new window (Ctrl+Shift+N / Ctrl+Click) works consistently. Thanks to @Ronsox!

Thanks dear @Razor that you have fixed such a bundle of bugs!
Anytype feels more and more matured without these little peeves.

But could you please give me an idea when I can expect fully implemented backlinks for images?
I think all the time that it must be only a very tiny task to bring it to an end, but the benefit would be immense!

looks like you purchase more storage with an upgraded plan.
when you reach the top with Ultra you can purchase another storage add on to the Ultra plan.
As I read it there is no storage add on for other plans.

Where can I find information about the Editors limit and how to purchase group memberships on my membership page? I’m currently on a Co-Creator subscription.

Why would anybody downgrade just to buy more storage?

I’d rather wait for people from Anytype to answer my initial question above.

Let’s hope this is just an overlook and they didn’t forget about their early users that supported Anytype by paying for a plan before.

I’m not sure how you come to the conclusion that you need to downgrade. You only can buy more additional storage when you are on Ultra, the max plan.

My initial question that I have also referenced earlier for you was already extremely clear and straightforward. It’s for those customers that have paid to support Anytype early on with the Builder or Co-Creator plan. Everyone with a Builder or Co-Creator plan already have more storage than the Ultra for less than half the price.

I don’t see what your addition to this conversation is. I am still waiting for someone from Anytype to answer the question.

@Xochi currently only Ultra plan support add-ons purchase. we have a technical ability to support this for builder in the future, but for co-creator it’s, unfortunatelly, not possible.

@r0the editors limit for co-creator is 10. only new plans support group membeships, so it’s required to switch to them if you need more editors.

we had to completely rewrite membership systems to make it more flexible, that is why this features are not supported for older plans from membership system v1.
as using these new features requires switching to a new plan, you can contact us via [email protected] and we can provide a promo code as a compensation to match the basic storage you currently have.

That would be great if the ability to add storage comes to the Builder.

Do you mean either..

  • Someone that is currently on the Co-Creator plan will need to switch to the Ultra plan with a promo code that will give them their current Co-Creator plan storage and price indefinitely, while these features get added to the Builder plan so those that are on the Builder plan right now won’t need to switch? Or ….
  • Those that are on the Builder plan right now will also have to switch to the Ultra plan as well and use a promo code that will give them the current Builder plan storage and price indefinitely, because though it is technically feasible to support these for the Builder plan, there are no plans for it?

Would this require changing to a whole new vault with a new Anytype ID? If yes, then it’s good for us to know since changing to a new Anytype ID will make all their previous interactions orphan therefore some users may opt to make this change sooner than later if they are sure they’ll be purchasing additional storage in the future.

I asked for myself, @r0the, and everyone else that are currently on a Builder or Co-Creator plan and reading this thread.

  1. We won’t be able to support new features for the Co-Creator plan, so those who want to use seats or add-ons will need to switch to Ultra and can request a promo code from [email protected] before switching.
  2. For those who are currently on the Builder plan and want to use seats or add-ons right now, they should also request a promo code from [email protected] and then switch to Ultra + add-ons.
  3. For those who are currently on the Builder plan but don’t urgently need additional storage, you don’t need to do anything and will eventually be able to purchase storage add-ons when we develop this. But it’s worth noting that it’s not our current top priority, as we have a backlog for the new membership system: adding more plans available for purchase from the App Store and Google Play, supporting EUR prices along with USD prices, and supporting payments in crypto.

Any changes to membership level don’t require creating a new vault or Anytype ID: the membership system is completely new, but the identity system is the same, and we support automatic migration of these identities from membership system v1 to v2.

Best second brain app ever!!! Took a little for me to get used to working with the object types but once you got a hang of it man…..I’ve tried all the big apps, but this one is by far my most favourite!!!

If you’re on a Co-Creator plan with 256 GB remote storage, Ultra with 100 GB feels like a downgrade.
