When a new file/page/note is created, but is not edited (for example, an unedited pre-loaded template, or a simple empty note) the file is not auto-deleted.
I often find myself having selected an unintentional file type, such as a page instead of an article, etc. So, I click out, and select my intended file type.
I’ve noticed that as a result of all these misclicks, I now have a load of files ‘untitled’. Nothing inside them, no content. Just a little bit annoying really!
Describe the solution you’d like
If an object is created but not edited after a certain amount of time (e.g. 14 days), it should be automatically deleted (if the user has the option enabled).
As having unedited pages automatically be deleted, isn’t currently a feature within Anytype, having this as a feature request would be more appropriate.

@Razor I have this issue on Windows 11 (Anytype v0.26.1) but I think this is general for all Desktop versions. On Android any unedited Object is not saved (v0.8.2).
I agree the default behaviour should be to delete an Object if it’s created and then abandoned with no further input.
However I’d suggest adding an option in Settings to enable the permanence of empty objects. I can imagine some (few) users wanting to be able to create empty placeholder objects tied to a moment in time (Creation date).
Maybe a pop-up asking to delete the “empty” Object because it was not edited is a nice and simple solution? This could be amended with a checkbox to “not ask again” and a setting to reset this behavior.
This happens for me only when I’m creating new Objects with the “+” icon in a Set.
This does not happen when I create an Object from the dashboard or with the “+” icon in the sidebar. In those cases, the Object is briefly visible in the History, but after closing the Object is removed. They are immediately permanently removed, so not going to the bin.
Hey @kara, thanks for this post. Indeed it’s not fun to find your history/graph filled with a bunch of untitled & empty Objects. On this topic we’ve discussed the idea of adding a ‘save’ button the first time you create an Object, meaning by default a new Object that you created from the + menu and then clicked out of, would not be saved.
I’m wondering what you think of this idea and whether you think it can address the problem you describe? Would it interrupt your + button Object creation flow somehow? Is there a reason why you would prefer to retain empty Objects after creation?

Assuming this would be something that can be changed in the settings, e.g., a ‘set as default’ tab, then this would for the most part solve the problem!
As I’m sure you can all imagine, it was kinda frustrating to find about 30 empty pages “untitled”, simply due to my misclicks!
