A Gallery View that shows all images inside of the Objects listed in a View

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND?

I miss a Gallery View that shows all the pictures which are included in the Objects that a View shows.

HOW COULD IT BE DONE?

Add a new View style to the settings menu for Query & Collection: “images inside Objects”.

REAL WORLD USE CASES

Let’s assume you have a Collection or Query with lot Objects that belong to a specific project.
The Objects contain images.
You know, there is somewhere a certain image, but where?

It would help a lot to have a View that displays all images that belong to that project.

RECOMMENDED ALTERNATIVES

At the moment, all we can do as a workaround, is to manually give each image manually the same Tag as the Page where they are embedded in.
But honestly: this is very cumbersome!
– It’s especially cumbersome in Anytype, because there is no quick way to give an image Tags after it became pasted into an Object.
Take for example an Object that has 10 images included. Now give each of them the same Tags as the Page.
→ You’ll see how extremely cumbersome it is!
This workaround has also another disadvantage (too long to elaborate, sorry).

As an alternative, images could automatically inherit the Tags from the Object.
But I believe that brings problems with it, because Objects could have more then only one Multiselect → which one is relevant?

Update: meanwhile there is a second FR for that.

I just have edited the original FR, because some new developments (for example, we have backlinks meanwhile).
Nevertheless, the FR is still actual.
It’s a very missed feature.

My usual workaround is to give all images the same Tags as the Page that includes them, so that I’m able to use the normal Galley View to display them.

This workaround is not only very cumbersome. It also brings a disadvantage with it:
Normally, the images would in the Views appear mixed with the Pages, because they have the same Tags.
This forces me now to filter all the Views, so that I have Views that only show Pages, and another View that shows only images.
If the Collection or Query already has a bunch of Views, it causes a lot additional work to apply the needed filters to each View.

Data management shouldn’t be a pointless exercise in itself, that only costs time.
Data management should help the users to spare time.
