Windows / Android spaces are not compatible

What do you need help with?

Hi, I’m new here. I run Anytype self-hosted. I have the desktop program installed on Windows and the mobile app on Android. Synchronization works, but in the app I can’t open spaces created with Windows, and vice versa, spaces created with Android can’t open in Windows. Please help.

Could you clarify what happens when you try to open the space on the other device?

For example:

  • Does it show an error message?

  • Does it keep loading indefinitely?

  • Does the space open but appear empty?

  • Does the app crash or return to the space list?

If possible, please share a short screen recording or screenshot from both devices. That will help us understand what’s going wrong.

I’m new here too and have the same problem exactly.

OS: Windows 11, Android 16, UI 8.5

Anytype: App 0.46.12, local-only mode

No error message

no indefinitely loading

space don’t open

No app crash or return

On android, If i type on a space, the icon gets darker a short moment but nothing happen. No problems on Windows.

My fault was: I connected the mobile app directly via QR code and didn’t switch the network to self-hosted

@JanS1 You are on local-only mode. Your spaces won’t sync because you’re not connected to a network. If you want to stay on local-only mode, you’ll need to p2p sync. Otherwise you can use the Anytype Network.

Maybe i was wrong. If i creat a new space on Android, it appears on Windows too - no problems on Windows or Android. And All new and old spaces have the status:

“Network aktive”

but i still can’t open the old spaces on android.
