We already can filter for Creation Date. But it makes some problems.
Imagine you was on travel for a week without computer or smartphone.
Today you’re back, now you want to keep your diary and write down all your impressions from the last days.
- Each Object will have the Creation Date from today!
But this is off course not what you want, while reading your diary you want the events in the correct chronological order.
So, what to do?
OK, you could add a Relation “Event Date” in all the Objects and filter your Set for it.
But if you think on a long diary where you create at least one Object per day (or more then one), the it becomes unhandy, because now you must add this Relation to each and every Object AND manual pick the correct date for them all!
As we see, not a nice situation.
(It the same thing as with templates - we can’t apply a template to an existing Object, so we need to add Relations or other modifications by hand. No fun for a lot of Objects!.)
The solution:
My FR about the Sort Date!
I implemented, each Object already has this Relation.
It’s content is normally identically with the Creation Date.
But in a case as described above, about your travel, you can pick the correct date for each Object, so that the sort function in Set & collection will show the events in the correct chronological order.
So, if you want, you can sort for the good old Creation Date. It still exists.
But if you want to read your diary in the order as the evens has happen, simply use the Sort Date".
As explained, we already could archive this by hand. But then we must add such a relation to each and every Object AND pick a date!
I think, each Object should have such a Sort Date automatically. Same thing as with the date Relation we already have:
- “Creation date”
- “Last modified date”
- “Last opened date”.
I wish simply one Date Relation more, but with the speacial feature, that, when we create an Object, its content is automatically identical with the Creation date.
But we can change it if there’s a good reason for it (what we not can for the Creation date).
