Web and mobile clipper improvements

There are a lot of things that makes me still use Pocket for saving articles instead of Anytype. Here are the main things I miss in the Web clipper and the Mobile (Android) share menu option:

  • When choosing to add the page content in the web clipper, it does not get a clean content. It includes a lot of unrelated text from the page before the article and after the article, also the images within the article gets downloaded to my space but does not always show in the article as the original one. Pocket web clipper and mobile app gets the article content perfectly and the article content only
  • The mobile sharing option does not have add page content at all
  • The web clipper doesn’t allow me to choose a collection to save the article their. It only allows choosing the object type, and also it does not use the default template of that object
  • The mobile version does not have the previous point and even does not allow to choose the object type, it only allows Bookmark or Note
  • In mobile, when I share a link or any text, it opens the app navigates to the saved object after I saving it instead of just keeping me in the same app I was using and save the object in the background

Web Clipper works, but it adds a lot of unnecessary information. For example, Anytype and UpNote web clippers comparison, raw data without any editing:

Мy point is that productivity means convenience and saving time, and with anytype web clipper there is a need for post-editing.

I would also appreciate being able to select other object types on mobile. If I share a URL to AnyType on Android, I want to be able to select a type other than bookmark – and have that type’s default template applied.

Currently, I can change the type afterwards; but, it won’t reflect that type’s default template.

Being unable to save the content of a homepage (e.g. a recipe) on Android to Anytype as a custom type (e.g. recipe) is basically a deal breaker for me right now.

The mobile clipper initially worked for me to save page content (though often without line breaks) and now it will only save bookmarks. Did something happen? This would be a perfect Pocket replacement if only it could scrape the text well. Feels like the team should not pass up this opportunity! It was one of the main things I used Notion for, and now I’m not sure I can do without it.

Browser solution will be here soon

I will add something that I personally really miss: now the web clipper in Anytype works about the same as in the official web clipper from Notion: you can save an object to a specific DB (in Notion) (picture 1) or as a specific type (in Anytype), while adding text from the page inside.

But Notion has an unofficial Save to Notion plugin, which also allows you to select a cover for an object by highlighting it on the page, a link to it on the Internet, and even add existing properties of the object to immediately fill them in (picture 2) (for example, a tag, but not a general tag for all objects, but specifically my tag property, or some other parameter, for example, whether the game is cooperative or not, if I am making a list of games for the future (picture 3))

It would be great if the Anytype web clipper could also allow you to automatically insert an object cover (picture 4) and change the necessary properties when saving it (picture 5)

I think it would be possible if Anytype had the ability to add plugins. I would be happy to write such a plugin myself.
