Currently if I am invited to a shared space, it is read-only.
So what is the use case for allowing a viewer to export the entire shared space?
Is this similiar to making a copy of a Google Doc?
Hi @Curie! Yes, it is similar, note that of all the connections between the objects are also saved. Actually export of shared space is no different than export of private space.
Also if you are ever removed from space by the owner, you should be able to export the space in the state it was when you still had the permissions to read it. I mention this to give more context of how sharing and exporting play together in our multiplayer.
Hope it makes sense!
I hope this is something we can change in the future. I want to be sharing spaces with my employees. I do NOT want them to be able to download the entire space. And definitely not after they have had their access removed. HELL NO!
This is disastrous. Please change this policy. Especially if they only have read only access. CRAZY
Agree with you, I have opened a FR
Thanks for the clarification. Although this does limit how I thought I would use a shared space.
Like @MikeyP & @Shampra have mentioned, uses cases are common, where the owner of of space would prefer read, but not export, for the Viewer role.
Also the pages below make it seem like Viewer has read-only permission. More description of the export permission is needed.
