V 0.56.1 Templates not visible in channel settings after update

WHAT IS THE BUG

Templates created for custom Object Types are not displayed in the Object Type’s Templates section.

The templates are created successfully and are available from the New dropdown in Queries for the corresponding Object Type. They can also be used to create new objects correctly.

However, when returning to:

Channel settings → Content Model → Object Types → [custom type] → Templates

the Templates section states that no templates exist.

The issue affects all of my custom Object Types.

This error occured after update to 0.56.1

HOW TO REPRODUCE IT

  1. Open any custom Object Type.
  2. Go to the Object Type’s Templates section.
  3. Create a new template.
  4. Add some identifiable content to the template.
  5. Save or leave the template.
  6. Return to the same Object Type’s Templates section.
  7. Observe that the newly created template is not displayed and the view states that there are no templates.
  8. Open a Query for the same custom Object Type.
  9. Open the New dropdown.
  10. Observe that the template is visible there.
  11. Create a new object using the template.
  12. Observe that the template is applied correctly.
  13. Repeat the same process for another custom Object Type.
  14. Observe the same behavior.

THE EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

Templates created for a custom Object Type should remain visible under:

Content Model → Object Types → [custom type] → Templates

The Templates section should display the same templates that are available in the Query’s New dropdown.

Templates should also be manageable from the Object Type settings after they have been created.

ADDITIONAL CONTEXT

  • The issue affects all of my custom Object Types.
  • Templates in the default “Get started” channel still work as expected.
  • Templates can still be opened, edited, duplicated and used through the New dropdown in a Query.
  • Objects created from the templates receive the expected template content.
  • The Flow view shows connections between the custom Object Types and their templates.
  • Restarting Anytype and restarting the computer do not resolve the issue.
  • The issue was first noticed after updating Anytype to version 0.56.1. I cannot confirm that the update caused the issue, but the Templates sections worked as expected before the update.

Thanks for sharing this.

We just tested this and it seems like we can’t reproduce your issue (see video below to verify we tried to reproduce it correctly). Can you please do the following:

  1. Create a new channel, create a custom type, and then try to reproduce the issue? This will help us to understand if this is a channel-specific issue.
  2. If #1 works, can you import one of your custom types from the original channel into your new channel, and then see if the template creation works? This will help us to understand if it’s a type-specific issue.

Whatever caused the problem disappeared after the latest update and a couple of restarts. This issue can be closed.
