WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND?
Currently, the fields with the “relation type = URL” have a behaviour that is not very intuitive. When we click on a URL, what happens is that 2 options emerge: “Open Link” and “Copy Link”, which means that if I want to open an URL, I’ll have to click twice in order to open the page. Please see the image below:
What I recommend, is that when we click on a link inside a URL relation, the default behaviour would be the link to open.
HOW COULD IT BE DONE?
When we have a field with an URL, we may want to do one of 4 things:
1 - Click over the link to open the page;
2 - Copy the link to clipboard;
3 - Edit the link;
4 - Delete the link.
My suggestion is that when we left click over the link it opens (default behaviour) and the other 3 options would be available by right clicking.
REAL WORLD USE CASES
Open any URL fast and easy. When we have a link, most of the time what people want to do is click on it.
RECOMMENDED ALTERNATIVES
Currently, if we click over the 3 dots on the top right of the page, there’s an option called “lock page”. Locking the page makes the URL’s clickable without having to give a 2nd click. But this is not intuitive, so most people will never even discover that this option exists.
ADDITIONAL CONTEXT
There are plenty of content that we can insert inside Anytype where URL’s are present. So it’s important that URL’s behave on a “natural way” (click and it opens).
