Essentially what I’m trying to do is create a book to-be-read list, with each book on the list having its own page for me to write a review once ive read the book, add pictures, etc. At the moment, when attempting to do this, the page that opens up for each book is just another list/grid, not a page that allows freewriting, and settings does not allow me to change the format. hopefully that makes sense.
I would solve it this way:
Put everything in one single Page.
Use Toggles inside that Page; one Toggle per book.
If the Toggles are closed, you have your list, that only shows the titles.
And if you open the Toggle for one of the books, you can freely write and/or add images.
No Collection or Query needed.
You can print that whole Page, or publish it to the web, to share it with friends etc.
The Toggles remain normal usable in a published web page.
At he moment, one function that might benefit you is “Turn into object”. Perhaps the following workflow will work for you:
Make a to-read list with a object (with or without checkbox style)
Write your review under the block of that book
Turn the whole block (outmost block) into object so all sub blocks and their free-writing with colours and styles will transfer to a more permanent object for that single book.
The most standard way to do this would be to create a Type, call it Books. And then create the property, ‘Reading Status’, and mark every book based on its status. You can then create different Views based on your needs. Here is a quick snapshot of what it can look like:
