Some widget examples that could be implemented in the future

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND

This is just a quick list of some of the widgets that could be implemented with the new sidebar and hopefully other places too.

HOW COULD IT BE DONE

  • Outline
  • Backlinks
  • Outgoing links
  • Calendar / daily timeline
  • Pomodoro or any other timer
  • Objects needing a review in a spaced repetition software
  • Tree view (already planned iirc.)
  • Search?
  • etc.

REAL WORLD USE CASES

The use case for most of these is to show useful information in a certain context at a glance.

  • View by tag (or other link), like Evernote :star_struck:
  • Saved searches (… like Evernote)
  • Custom list of links (for a custom link tree ideally)

I hope we’ll see more about this widget system tonight!

I also would really like to see a table of content widget in which we could also toggle the sub heading and such.

Outline = Table of Contents.

Yeah, that’s how it’s called in Obsidian. I’ve seen it used both ways.

edit: I’d edit it if I could, but I don’t think I can :smiling_face_with_tear:.

I would personally add local graph view as a widget since it can give the most insight regarding any object without any more clicks in order to get to the graph or flow view.

I think timelines can be scaled up to months or years, free to choose a time period and then choose multiple data sources for that time period. :cowboy_hat_face:

I don’t see any new widgets.
Are there still plans to improve this system? Few applications have an equivalent, but there are still a few things missing to make it really great.
Is it still worth requesting certain improvements here?
