WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND?
Now that it is possible to Share a space (v0.39.25-beta), please make it possible to share a space under a different name.
HOW COULD IT BE DONE?
Make it possible, in the Profile, to create Alias names for a given Space Member. Then, make it possible, in Manage Space, to associate on of those aliasses to a Space.
Use this alias name in the Members list of a Space setting.and in all other communication on Sharing (eg in dialog boxes when you click on an invite)
REAL WORLD USE CASES
Consider a Company, Acme ltd, that has several Spaces.
- One that I want to share as “John (Acme)” towards close collegues.
- One that I want to share as “John (Marketing)” towards collegues
- One that I want to share as “John Doe (Acme - Marketing)” towards suppliers
- A public share as “Acme (Sales)” towards customers that should not contact Marketing.
Always using the default name linked to your identity just won’t do for all these different scenarios.
