Return the "Home" button to the bottom bar (mobile)

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND?

The home button, which would return you back to the current space’s sidebar, was removed in the latest update and I think it shouldn’t have been.

REAL WORLD USE CASES

Whenever I use the mobile app, I jump around between different deeply nested pages a lot. I would usually use the home button to quickly jump to the sidebar and navigate somewhere else, but since it’s been removed, I’ll now have to press the back button about a million times to get back to the sidebar from a deeply nested object.

Totaliy agree. Since there are no graph or sidebar on the mobile version, the Home button was also an essential feature in my workflow…

Agreed, the home button was really critical, and now having to press the back button 3, 5, 10 times is very inconvenient

Great update, as always!

Could someone explain the logic behind removing the home button from the nav bar? It’s made navigation a lot slower to me (I now have to press the back button 3, 4, 5 times to get back to home), but maybe I’m missing something?

I’m also missing the home button, it was really convenient to quickly go back to the main screen.

The list of Spaces makes navigation a bit slower in my opinion, especially when you want to close the app. To me its ideal placement would be in a sidebar accessible by swiping right from the main screen.

The rest of the update is great :raised_hands:

There is no quick access to the main menu now? Now do I need to click “back” as many times as I clicked through the pages?

You can try the long tap on the back arrow

This allows you to select a workspace, but if there is one, then nothing happens when you click on the workspace :man_shrugging:

Came here for the same reason, I miss the ability to come back to root level widgets in one tap, so convenient !

To clarify because now we have different homes (the new top-level list of space, and each space’s “homepage”), what I need is a button to go to the space’s homepage

Maybe they preferred the minimalism of only three buttons on the navbar which is cool, but with no alternative, this feels pretty awkward. They could make it to where when you long-press the back button, there is a “Home” button on the spaces popup, or tapping the current space actually returns you to the homepage instead of doing nothing

Sorry for spamming this thread, but after a few days of use I can confirm that removing the home button makes navigation much, much more tedious. I often find myself having to tap the back button between 5 and 10 times to get to home.

We’ll be addressing this issue in our upcoming hotfix (so before 0.44.0). The current plan is to re-purpose the back button long-press for this action instead of re-adding the home button.

Long-pressing the back button to quickly switch spaces has been super handy too. If you change long pressing to go back home, how will we be able to quickly switch space?

I also want to point out that while I appreciate long-press interactions because they’re efficient (the same button can perform two actions), those are not accessible to new users. It will take them a lot of time to discover these, if they ever discover them.

So in my opinion, hidden actions (like long pressing a button) should be reserved for advanced actions that users will be fine if they never know about them. Going back home isn’t one of them, this is an action fundamental to navigating Anytype smoothly. So I support returning the home button altogether.
