Readwise integration

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
No.

Describe the solution you’d like
I’d like to access the highlights and notes from my Readwise account, by means of a simple one-way sync that would keep things updated, so that when I add new texts and highlights to Readwise, they are automatically added to Anytype. There is similar features of Readwise integration related to Notion, as well as Roam, Obsidian and so on.

Describe alternatives you’ve considered
I can export things from Readwise in markdown and add them to Anytype manually, I guess, but this would not keep things in sync, so I would need to keep doing this on regular basis, filtering out what has already been imported.

Additional context
I think Readwise is an amazing tool for spaced repetition, but it also remains a powerful way of archiving highlights and notes from different sources. By adding a Readwise integration, similar to the one already available between Readwise and Notion, this archive of highlights could be used inside Anytype for any purpose. (I guess it would be necessary to make the content from Readwise read-only, by the way, but I’m not sure about this.)

will there anything happen in this direction? or an open API we can use

Hi! As you mentioned, such feature requests can be resolved if contributors have access to an API. We are working on it and plan to provide an API and store for integration this year. You can see more details in this comment: Automations - #4 by fuksman

This has been solved?

Open API is scheduled for the end-year update. Once the API is available I imagine it won’t be long before we start seeing such integrations, so hopefully in about a year or so.

I sincerely hope this API release by Q4 2024 is accurate since this is one of the biggest hurdles for me to fully buy into and evangelize Anytype.

Most of the information I consume professionally and personally is through Kindle books and online resouces. Readwise is a brilliant tool for managing my highlights and items to read/view/listen to, but I want a secure and local database under my ownership to pool my curated insights to.

I know the API release was previously pushed back, so I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed that won’t be the case later this year. I’m grateful for the latest web clipper and new multi-player updates, and the addition of API integrations would be the last piece of the puzzle I need to start building my PKM in Anytype.

Keep up the great work, y’all!

Any update?

Please update this integration!

REAL WORLD USE CASES

As many ebook reader users nowadays, we always need to store and organise the book or text information separately, anytype needs to play this role.

I switched from notion and obsidian user to anytype user, but anytype can’t receive readwise export yet, so I still have to export from notion and obsidian to anytype, which makes me feel troublesome in between software switching, I would like to spend my money exclusively on anytype and get rid of other notebook software.

Please update this feature!

One of the few things keeping me from defitenely changing to Anytype. Articles and e-book management is essential to my workflow.

I know there is an API but I have zero experience with coding.

I have same wish too

Done!

Has anything happened with this? I really like Anytype, but I want a way to get my book highlights from my Kobo to my notes app. I’ve done it easily using Readwise with Obsidian and Capacities. This thread started more than 4 years ago.

We are not actively working on a Readwise integration at the moment.
