Any LLM integrations have the ability to be switched off on install, including AI-assisted search, summaries, a chatbot, ECT.
HOW COULD IT BE DONE?
ᅟThis could exist in settings but also on any onboarding, as many people may also want to bring their own local models giving people a choice to use their own models or opt-out completely.
REAL WORLD USE CASES
Many, many members of the community have expressed their skepticism and sickness of “AI” and are simply looking for an alternative to notion that respects their interests. By positioning anytype as “AI-optional” it would give users of notion and other similar apps that are forcing proprietary AI onto their users in obtuse ways an alternative in Anytype - a unique position in the market that aligns with the overall philosophy of a digital estate and open-source software.
On top of this, I’ve used open source and on device AIs like Apple intelligence and janitor.ai And I found the quality of responses very poor, I simply do not want any integration with this technology if I can avoid it and many users feel the same.
RECOMMENDED ALTERNATIVES
If there was a plug-in to hide or completely strip the program of LLM integrations I would immediately use it.
ADDITIONAL CONTEXT
I am a product manager and creative who has both philosophical and general user annoyance at this insistence of every single app forcing this technology on users. I originally came to anytype because it was not plastered with AI users and would pay for it as I did notion for many years if it supported user choice to not use this technology or have it forced via dark UX patterns. I attempted to use obsidian which made these integrations completely optional however I don’t like the interface and much prefer the block systems of Notion and Anytype. I and many users are looking for an AI optional database program that doesn’t have horrible UX. Please just at least give us the option.
I would become a paid member immediately if this were implemented.
