Open space in new tab

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND?

When creating a new tab, open space by default. This saves cognitive effort and redundant clicking to select a space.

HOW COULD IT BE DONE?

If there is a space open in the current tab, use the same space in the new tab.

If there is no space in the current tab, use the same defaults as for the first/default tab.

REAL WORLD USE CASES

I use tabs a lot and, every time I open a new tab, I have perform the same steps to select exactly the same space that I have already open in other tabs.

If there is a need to open an item from another space, it would take the same actions for selecting that space as it does now, except now I have to do it for every tab.

RECOMMENDED ALTERNATIVES

Can’t think of any.

ADDITIONAL CONTEXT

Configurable settings: Define a default space to use. Toggle for opening a space in a new tab.

do you use the alpha or something? I dont have tabs yet

I think it’s enough to open the same space which is open in the current tab, no? Tabs are in the alpha, yes

Yes, that’s the main idea. The rest is just because a new tab could be opened even if there’s nothing open in the current one.

Yes, you can see all the releases on Github. I was quite keen to try tabs and there wasn’t much that seemed dangerous to the underlying data.
