I recommend implementing a Reminder feature in Anytype that allows users to schedule notifications for individual objects or tasks. These reminders should be available on both desktop and mobile apps. Additionally, optional calendar integration (e.g. Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or CalDAV) would be extremely beneficial for users who want centralized scheduling.
HOW COULD IT BE DONE?
Add a "Reminder" property to any object that lets users set a date and time.
Include options for one-time and recurring reminders (daily, weekly, custom).
Notifications should trigger natively on desktop (via system notification) and mobile (push notifications).
For broader utility, integrate with external calendar apps (via iCal export or API sync).
Allow reminders to appear in a unified "Reminders" view or dashboard in Anytype for quick reference.
REAL WORLD USE CASES
A user creates a "Meeting Notes" object and sets a reminder to follow up in 3 days.
While planning a project in a custom dashboard, a user adds deadlines and receives timely notifications for each phase.
Someone journaling in Anytype sets a nightly reminder to write an entry.
A user integrates their task reminders with Google Calendar to maintain a consistent schedule across platforms.
RECOMMENDED ALTERNATIVES
Currently, users may manually add a Date property and use external calendar apps for reminders, but this lacks native notification and seamless integration.
Using external task managers alongside Anytype is a workaround, but it fragments the user’s workflow.
ADDITIONAL CONTEXT
This request aligns with productivity-focused users who want to consolidate note-taking, task management, and reminders in one privacy-first app.
Related feature requests could include: task scheduling, recurring tasks, or better time-based filters for objects.
Hi @FryYourChicken, welcome to the Anytype community! Thanks for making the feature request.
We have a feature request that’s about reminders and notifications here, this request is one of the most voted on request in the community. Please add your vote to that post. This is also a feature that I desperately need, here is my suggestion in that topic:
You can check out the whole topic, there are lots of good inputs from the community.
Please add an option to add a alert/reminder to any item in Anytype and these alerts can be one-time or repeated.
For example on a note, you can add a alert for August 1st, 2025 @ 10:00am and it will send a notification to any device it is synced to at that time of the note.
An example of a repeated reminder on a note, you can add a alert for August 1st, 2025 @ 10:00am and it repeat weekly and it will send a notification to any device it is synced to at that time of the note August 1st, 2025 @ 10:00am, August 8th, 2025 @ 10:00am, August 15th, 2025 @ 10:00am, etc.
Please make the alert notifications on Android work on degoogled devices without google play service.
This feature is a Must have in AnyType.
This is a fantastic software with a lot of freedom. If I want to get my entire digital life in order, I will be adding many date references and the ability to get a reminder is almost a mandatory feature which is keeping me from migrating from Notion to AnyType.
I would request the Anytype team to consider this request on the fast track , because it will probably double the adoption number for this great software.
Yeah so I definitely would like to get more on notifications.
I am planning to use anytype to assign tasks and tickets in a KanBan, Jira style, to me and another person and it would be great to have a Notion like inbox with pings of questions, clarifications, next steps, due dates etc. Be notified when a certain kind of request or issue with me as the assignee was created, and notify my teammate about things I want them to do.
It would be nice if we have some control over the priorities of notifications, perhaps through distinguish action required and quite notification, as well as admission control, rate limits and earned interrupt rights for shared/public spaces.
