Not recently opened Tasks marked as "Done" are not showing in the search

WHAT IS THE BUG

Tasks which havent been opened in a recent time and have their “Done” relation checked are not showing up in the global search.

HOW TO REPRODUCE IT

  1. Create a set of type task
  2. Set filter “Done” - “is checked”
  3. Try searching for them in the global search

THE EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

Showing the task

ADDITIONAL CONTEXT

This isn’t reproducable with newly created tasks. And when opening one of my older tasks and then searching for it, it also works.
Only tasks I haven’t opened in a while can’t be found.

Works fine on iOS.

I’ve noticed that even some other objects (not done / don’t even have the done relation) also don’t seem to be showing up in the search for me.

They then start showing up in search after I open them some other way.

Same for me. I did a fresh install of the latest version (0.34.3) on Ubuntu and at first search didn’t work at all (when I haven’t opened any objects). Once I opened specific objects, only those became searchable.

Please fix this as quick as possible. It’s kinda driving me crazy. :sob:

Agreeing that a not 100% working search is quite a problem also for me.

This is a major BUG from my point of view.
I’ve imported a large amount of notes from Logseq ~2 weeks ago, and now most of them are not displayed in my search results which makes Anytype unusable and at least very hard to work it since you have to manually go to that particular note and open it.

Later edit:
I see that there is another issues opened and it has been assigned to the dev team :crossed_fingers:

That’s a different issue, but it could be related behind the hood. When you first open the search bar, you’re supposed to see your recently opened objects there, but that doesn’t work properly now.

I am trying to make use of the search function. Not sure if the search doesn’t work only on my computer, or if it’s the software issue for everybody. See the screenshot below.

P.S. I’m loving AT. Definitely a long way to go, but it is already a great thing.

I confirm this issue has been created with 0.34.3 version; I did a test before updating on my laptop because I discovered the issue on my desktop.
Please fix It; AT is not usable without search function.

To all:
While this is being worked on. The search in the graph seems to be still working.

WHAT IS THE BUG

When using search, it is sometimes impossible to find objects that have already been created.

HOW TO REPRODUCE IT

  1. Create a new object or choose the old one.
  2. Try to search.
  3. Sometimes the search will not find your object.

THE EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

The search finds all objects, especially if the name is clear.

ADDITIONAL CONTEXT

For example, I recently created an object called “О.Університет”
image

After that, I tried to find it – searching my AnyType space doesn’t find anything

I can’t seem to find a pattern as to when the Search function can find the objects and when it can not. The only thing that I’ve seen so far is that if you manually open an object, then it will show up in search regardless of the creation date of the object.

I have to say, I hope the team has a clear understanding of the task because it’s really annoying not being able to search for my objects.

Maybe if we had an option to trigger manual indexing of Anytype, it would be a short-term solution for this problem.

That’s awesome to hear! just to add some more information, maybe it would be helpful to the team: this indexing issue does not affect other areas. Let me give you an example: if I create a object relation which is of one my types of objects, for instance “humans” and I start typing in the relation box to find the person I’m looking for, it always find my query. Even the “case sensitive” bug is not an issue there.

thought it would be useful to the team

Everything else seems to work, including the graph work, except the global search.

Thanks fellas, I’ve added your comments to the issue
