Mobile import/export

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND

— I would love the ability to import/export function on mobile devices.

HOW COULD IT BE DONE

— Self explanatory.

REAL WORLD USE CASES

— It would be helpful for local syncing without the need for an outside internet connection.

RECOMMENDED ALTERNATIVES

— Does not apply here.

ADDITIONAL CONTEXT

— I travel a lot and don’t like the online dependence. I would like the ability to sync my notes from my laptop without the need for an internet connection via the local synchronization.

Giving this a little bump

Really can’t believe that pages etc on mobile can’t be exported to PDF at the very least.

It means that you have to copy paste into email or mobile word, then share. Not ideal

I believe they’ll add this feature eventually. As of what I’ve seen, Anytype is mainly focusing on desktop development at the moment.

What would your use case be for this? How often do you need to export a note to PDF from your smartphone? For what do you use this?
If you could answer some of these, it could helps us in deciding if we should prioritize implementing this feature more.

Hi

Essentially, it is currently impossible to get any information within Anytype out to clients, friends, other apps etc. It’s totally locked in UNLESS you copy/paste (which loses formatting)

Many people are mobile first, or at least carry an ipad to work on for ease. Being able to work on notes on the move is great, but then sharing areas in a collaborative sense requires a way to get the info out. PDF is universally used, Word would be harder I guess, text would need further conversion

There’s too much friction with the iOS app currently - a greater sense of how people use their notes etc would be useful

Thanks

@Filip - A possible use case would be if AnyType was being used to collect tech support data with a technician at a customers business that they then wanted to print out with a mobile printer to provide a copy of the details to the customer for a signature. I used to do something similiar to this as a computer tech several years ago. Work orders often need to have a customer signature when completed.

Precisely this. Every other current knowledge / data app on iOS i know of has the ability to share at least something - would urge the Anytype team to think about how they might work on the move without a laptop.

Is there a plan to include import and export option in Android app…

A real life use case:
If computer breaks down, syncing to mobile is not complete and mobile/iPad is my only available device. There would be a way for me to work with the most updated data (manual export), because it is currently not possible to change data location on mobile..

This would work well with auto backup or export as well.

It is that switching from one app to another will be quite easy…
It is really hard to manually put large size of notes bookmarks etc from others apps.

I’ld like to export all my data to markdown/anytype format to make a weekly backup in case slmething happens.

Problem here, I can’t use my pc every week so I’ve to do it on my phone.

Right now it’s impossible. It’s not the biggest issue… but a really helpful feature.

Lack of mobile export is a huge pain, I can’t use anytype as my knowledge base and place to store all my notes if I cannot share things with people via export to text or PDF easily. Even copy/paste is a huge pain because you cannot “select all” with anytype. So I have to individually select blocks. This is a huge annoyance if I want to share an essay or a poem I wrote in Anytype with anyone I know.

Please fix this problem on mobile.

Please add the ability to import and export your data on Android and iOS. Even if this is only limited to importing and exporting the Any-Block format

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND?

Now the export to PDF/Markdown/any block option is only available on desktop. It would really be convenient if I could do this on Android or iPad

HOW COULD IT BE DONE?

Implement exporting feature, similar to desktop

REAL WORLD USE CASES

If I need to share a note/page in pdf with others and my laptop isn’t around me, that’s would be really useful
