How to sync devices without network?

I understand that it is possible to sync devices offline if those devices are all on the same network [add link]

How can i do that when i am on a plane or in the forest without access to any WiFi or cellular network, with my laptop and smartphone? Is there a way to create a local network from my laptop that my phone will connect to and allow Anytype to sync?

You could possibly do that by connecting to your phone trough the mobile hotspot?

Wired connection should work as well

I just tried using hotspot and that didn’t work, including for two devices (a laptop and an iPad) connected to the same hotspot (shared by a third device). If the device sharing the hotspot isn’t connected to the internet, Anytype apps say “no connection”.

I think that’s because Anytype is looking for a connection to the Anytype hosted backup node. It is not yet supported to show to which client nodes (Anytype Desktop or mobile installs) are connected and synced to.

What do you mean?
I tried it this way:

  1. Connecting my phone via USB to my PC.
  2. Activating data connection on the phone, so that’s possible to use it like an USB drive on the PC.

But no syncing happens.

Connecting both devices to the same router as well as connecting them together using a hotspot connection or a wired one without an active internet connection won’t make offline sync work.

This issue applies to Windows, Ubuntu and Android.

Wired connection would be ethernet presumably.
